The month Arsenal could only beat 10 men in league

Three 0 Walcott

November 28 2012

After tonight’s 1-1 draw at Everton Arsenal drop back to 7th place and have only garnered 6 points out of 15 in the last 5 games. Is this November lull just a blip? After all Wenger’s teams have often gone into a lull in November, with a series of poor results. I haven’t got the stats to hand from the past, but only one win all month, and that against 10 men, this must be one of the worst November’s ever.

In the past there has been a bounce back after November, but the context has been different. This time it is the worst start to a season since 1982, and far worse than any season previously under Wenger. In the times of past lulls the squad has been stronger. Players like Henry, Bergkamp or even RvP can drag a team out of a lull singlehanded. I don’t see the equivalent at Arsenal just yet, maybe Cazorla, Podolski or Giroud will reach that level, but they need time to settle in.

If Wenger could find his first eleven and play them regularly his team might recover this time, and although Giroud and Podolski have had their moments they also have had times of fading out.  Walcott is the only player who can probably score a goal a game, but as the defence can also leak a goal a game its not enough. However beyond the first eleven things do not look so certain. When it comes to quality the squad lacks depth.

If Podolski or Giroud are not fit who are the standbys? Apparently Coquelin, and not being a manager myself I cannot judge if he is a good stand in for a striker. No doubt he can get 30 goals a season. Szczesney had a good game tonight, would Arsenal have got the same result with Mannone? I doubt it. Now Koscielny is injured it will have to be hoped any absence is short term.

Will Arsenal still make fourth place? That is hard to judge, it is probably more to do with the form of the teams above Arsenal, than the Gunners own form. At the moment Spurs, WBA, and Everton are keeping Arsenal away from Wenger’s favourite trophy, fortunately they are all capable of imploding. Maybe 4th place can be won with minimum points; in that case anyone can win it.

Certainly Arsenal won’t be finishing 1st or 2nd. The only other alternative is that Arsene spends big at Xmas to make the season very different. With the new sponsorship money coming through in a season’s time , and the new increased TV revenues also on their way the pleas of poverty are beginning to sound somewhat hollow.

This team has won 5 out of 14 premiership games this season and yet we can finish anywhere from 3rd to about 10th. The quality of the premiership is the poorest I've ever seen.

I wouldn't mind us being awful as much if we weren't so boring to watch.

I can, we have sold all of our best players especially over the last 2 years to arch rivals and other clubs which actually want to win.

Meanwhile one season wonder van Persie scores wonder goals by the hatful for Man U

and most importantly, a lot of our fans have sat by watching it happen, and out of loyalty to our friendly neighbourhood American multi billionaire venture capitalists, have talked UTTER NONSENSE about how we didnt need the old players, however good they were, because we've got REALLY GOOD NEW ONES, even though they didnt cost that much, and we've hardly watched them yet. The last few months on here, watching people like Seanski trot out their weekly b*llockings to the rest of us, for our collective lack of faith, has been sad really. A bit like watching a room full of turkeys eagerly voting for Christmas. Ditto the REPULSION against the black scarf movement. It all proves why large comanies find it so easy to rip us all off. Supermarkets, food, gas bills, travel. Its because the capitalist lie that for something to be succesful, its got to have a cigar chomping billionaire behind it, has sunk into peoples psyches to the level that its going to be very hard to remove. He's 'investing' in it, you see. Even if he doesnt 'invest'. He actually 'purchases' it, then 'sells it' without investing at all in between.

Our fans are like foxes with grapes. Every player that leaves turns out to be useless. Dont theses players know that if you leave Arsenal you dont go on to anything better?
Menawhile ex Arsenal players have cabinets full of medals.

We are the worlds best team ever in the history of football at passing the ball sideways so i think we should charge a little more for tickets
