Arsenal Football Club must demand an apology for the grotesque contents of an article in today's SUN about Arsene Wenger's U21 signings.
The apology is not for the view that Boa Morte and Manninger, who both won the double in 98 were a miss, or that Lupoli who at 18 has 53 goals in 55 games at all levels is a miss,(even though in the running for a major award this year) or even that they list several players who joined as scholars as misses.
No The SUN have stooped to a new low in both lack of knowledge and bad taste. One name on the list who they have down as a miss is that of the late Niccolo Galli. For those of you too young to remember him Niccolo Galli was the young Itilian centre back who after starring for Arsenal's FA youth cup winning side was tipped to be a top top star. Arsenal allowed young Galli to return to Italy for a year to finish his schooling. While completing his studies he was on loan with Fiorentina, and had forced his way into their first team. However tragedy struck and the young talent was killed in a road accident. At the time both Liam Brady and Arsene Wenger said that Galli would have been a certainty to make it in the Arsenal first team. Arsenal must demand and get an apology for Galli and his family. Football fans should write to the Sun demanding an apology. The Sun's list is printed below:
