Don’t expect too much – squad for Ajax.

The one player most Arsenal fans would like to see rested is still in the squad. But hopefully Wenger will experiment and give someone else a start at left back.

However Ljungberg, Pires, Gilberto, Sol Campbell and Jens Lehmann are all rested, and so is Bergkamp who has picked up a slight hamstring injury, and will not play against his former side

Wenger said that "It is a chance for us to be top of the group unbeaten, bounce back from the disappointment at Bolton and give a chance to some younger players."

Ajax may not play there strongest side either, but they are still a handy side. I might be wrong, but I suspect this will be an utter anti – climax as the result, whatever it is, will make no difference, at all, to either team. True Wenger wants the 18 points as it will help with future seedings, but how much that motivates the players is questionable. Of course I hope the players prove me wrong, and it would be nice to see some good goals from RvP, Reyes and Lupoli. Also we must hope that a midfielder can emerge to give Gilberto a run for his money. Wenger has said that Hleb will play an important part in the second half of the season. It's interesting to speculate where that part may be.
