Less attempts than Burnley.

Arteta doesn't know how to attack.

Ramsdale 9 MOTM

Tomi 4.5 Not sure about him.
Terrible with left foot.

White 5. Some good points. But he's not a top C/Back.

Gabriel- 8 very good performance. Solid and made some great interceptions.

Tierney 6 ok. But injured once more.

Partey 5. Not really sure what he does bar getting injured.

Pepe 3. Just poor once again.

Smith Rowe 6- Lively but wasteful. Can't finish just like Saka.

Odegarrd 7 Extra point for the great free kick. Didn't get involved enough but did put in a good shift.

Saka 5- looks tired and lacking in confidence. Nothing come off for him today.

Auba 6- No service but worked hard unlike last season.

White wasn’t as bad as some are making out.

Pepe was really poor. He’s too lax. He was in numerous good positions and played lazy passes.

Saka is annoying me. I think it’s an attitude issue atm.

ESR needs to improve his finishing.

Tierney injured yet again and Partey could be too.

Another clean sheet which is great to build on but midfield and attack is a joke atm.

January or next Summer.
Time to take a hit on Pepe.

Given White's issues with winning headers, maybe he should be moved to defensive midfield position to partner with Partey. Bring Saliba back to partner Gabriel in central defence. That should provide a very strong defensive spine down the middle.

I think Tomi was solid TBH. I know Pepe is frustrating but no one can deny he's a threat and an outlet with his pace. I've still got faith in him.

The pass to Auba was simple but I believe the long grass didn't help. They deliberately kept it long.

White actually made won more aerial duels than the impressive Gabriel.

White was subject of much media scrutiny ahead of the game after being bullied by Brentford striker Ivan Toney in the Gunners’ opening game of the season.

In the second half, White won aerial duels when coming up against Matej Vydra and Ashley Barnes, although he was admittedly to blame for the Burnley penalty which was quickly overturned by VAR.

However, he still won 5 out of his 8 aerial duels and made seven clearances and four interceptions, considerably more than his centre-back partner Gabriel.

Critics will say he had a nervous performance but in reality, this will go down as a game where White didn’t get bullied by Burnley’s strikers and Arsenal came away with the three points.

He was shocking, no 2 ways about it.

As per Sofascore, the big Brazilian won an impressive seven duels (the second-most of any Arsenal player, only behind Ben White), and made three tackles and eight clearances (both of which were the highest of any of his teammates).

He was a rock at the back and in one eye-catching moment in the first-half, threw himself in front of Barnes to deny the striker a volley on goal.

And, writing in his post-match player ratings for The Evening Standard, Simon Collings gave him an eight, saying: “A big game from the Brazilian, who seemed to relish the battle of playing Burnley. Made one huge tackle in the first-half to deny Ashley Barnes.”

Those sentiments were echoed by Football.London’s Kaya Kaynak, who also gave him a eight, raving: “A dominant display from the Brazilian who dealt well with the physical threat posed by Burnley’s two strikers. Recognised when to engage and when to drop off as he looks to have grown into more of a leader over the summer break.”

Couldn't agreed more.
Give some credits to Ben White who is superb in anticipation and was quick to beat Burnley players to high balls. And if he did not win those aerial duels, his pressing and challenging were putting off Burnley players and putting off their headers.

Partey was the rock which allows the Clown to play Odegaard-Partey-ESR in 4-3-3.

Pity though the Clown is clueless on fast transition from defence to attack and based on the outmoded Pep "20 passes style" to put the team into an attacking mode.

It fails not because of slow and languidly stroking the ball around with 20+ passes, it is because of the utterly absence of attacking threat down the left flank with the woeful Saka-Tierney-ESR having no synergy and understanding amongst each other with no services to Auba was running into space.
Tierney dashing run into the box and floating crosses, passes and cut-backs were missing.

I reiterated, time to drop Saka to get his head screwed right to play for Arsenal FC and not like reserving himself for October international break.

Saka is the reverse of John Barnes - superb for Liverpool FC but mediocre playing for England.

Or is it that the Clown over complicated tactical setups and elaborate and predictable passing patterns forced Saka into a rigid role, curbing his individualism for "the collective good"?

Really, I missed that "Unai Emery" Martinelli out-running defenders at bye-line, turning the corner into the box and battling the balls with opponents together with box-to-box non-stop running.

Where is that "Gabriel Martinelli" now in this kind of over-complicated tactical setup that confuses the players and so predictable for defenders to stop out final balls dead?

Saw all those square passes across the box to Auba so easily anticipated and cut-out by Burnley defenders?
It happened again and again like clockwork whenever we have 3 Arsenal players driving into the box - and then executed a square pass across the box.

Plus, see any defence splitting pass lately with Arsenal players running clear through?
Only two and ESR fumbled with poor shooting skills.

Joe Willock is better than ESR at pressing and with better pressing skills and of course, his shooting and predatory instinct are way way better than ESR.

Early days.
But frustrating when those youngsters had one superb season before and then failed to develop further in that season after.

Guendouzi?

Martinelli?
ESR?
Saka?
Balogun?

Look like the common denominator is whether that Clown knew how to develop youngsters without curbing their flair, instinct and spontaneity during final third offence.

Tavares is like Jenkinson. His passing is actually worse than Jenkinson. He can hardly control the ball.

And this isn't a technique pbm but mental. He hasn't played in a league where you get closed down so quickly so he isn't used to taking fast/accurate decisions.

If Tierney gets injured, we are @#$%&. Tavares will not be able to pass well against the top 10-12 teams at all.

The only positive is that he is fairly two footed, but he needs to adapt to the pace of PL fast. Right now he looks worse than most championship players when he is on the ball (like a 16 year old walcott). Again when given time, he is fairly intelligent then it appears, but his decision making is very slow because of the level of football he had played at till now in his life.

Like when he dribbled thru' whole length o pitch deep in injury time.
Instead of passing (with player to his left and right) or holding up the ball to run off more time, he elected to shoot and I think, Odegaard was screaming at him.

Eye candy but brainless footballer out for personal glory.
Hope he can still improve, and not another brainless road-runner.
