A marvellous send off for one of the greatest players ever to wear an Arsenal shirt. His influence cannot be over estimated. He was the pathbreaker, the man who opened Arsenal up as a major destination for overseas players.
Those players have come from just about every country around the world. but Dennis's contribution was specifically and spectacularly Dutch. It was the ability to find space in the tightest of situations, to see angles no one else could see, and do it with the minium of display or effort.
We will see many more great players at Arsenal, but very few, if any, will have the technique of Dennis Bergkamp. The Testimonial was bitter sweet, a great chance to say farewell, and what a send off he got, but the realisation we will never see him play football again.
But Dennis did it in style, every fan was given a free T shirt, and he brought some of the greatest stars ever to play at a Premieship ground to the feast.
Here are some photos from the event.
