Agree for the most part. I would have preferred Zubimendi and Partey as the two DM options. But let's see how that plays out.

Definitely a great window so far. Let's beat Liverpool, sign Hincapie and move on some players by the end of the weekend 💪

Zubimendi and Rice are out Future for the next 5 years like Vieira & Petit & Giberto.
Norgaard is excellent for rotation in cup competitions and not to run Rice and Zubi into the ground by March/April.

And if MLS is converted to DCM, wonderful.

Eze made my window.

Still not sure about Zubimendi.
And will Madueke seriously help us go forward.

And hopefully another class signing can be made who is first team material in next few days.

I think Madueke may prove to be worth the £52m we paid for him. Contributed on the left but looked very comfortable on the right when he flipped wings. I like what I've seen so far.

I love Zubimendi. Kepa, Mosquera and Norgaard for £30m is a bargain. Gyokeres is up and running and isn't even fit yet. We got the cherry on the cake with Eze and we're talking to Hincapie as well

It's been an Andrea Berta masterclass so far. His job over the next few years will be making us a better selling club, you can't change that perception overnight.

Good write up and summation of a window where we have commited nearly 300m in transfers so far and more to come if we get Hincapie.

The manager has been backed, we have covered off most the postions we needed to, bar maybe a more streamlined left wing. In an ideal world we would move both Trossard and Martinelli on and replace them with one world class option. The Havertz injury has lead us to keeping Trossard, as for Martinelli I think if there was serious money on the table for him we would consider it if it allowed us to pursue somebody else.

There seems to be a bit of a backlog on the winger musical chairs across the top clubs in Europe, with the likes of Xavi Simons, Savinho, Rodrygo etc potentially waiting on other pieces of the jigsaw to fall into place before these moves can happen.

It will be interesting to see how it shakes out over the next few days, I think with the addtion of Eze we have covered off another LW option, but if stars aligned we could see some more movenment in this position yet.

As things stand I'd probably rate the window at an 8/10, we've shown ambition and we have covered off the positions we needed to. I take away one point for the unknown nature of what Madueke and Gyokeres to a lesser degree will bring to the table and another at the moment for those still in the departure lounge. However, considering it was his first window after only been appointed realtively recently Berta and Co have done extremely well in acquirng potentially the 8 players they have.

Nottingham Forest (Edu) and Spurs (Vinai), haven't had such positive windows 😉

They did the deal and both clubs kept it on the shelf for the right time (largely dictated by Sociedad's Tax Reporting and FFP compliance) They had to lock the deal into the 2025/2026 Uefa and La Liga Monitoring Period.

I know people don't actually care about the truth.

But Edu and Ayto deserve their flowers for The Arsenal Summer 2025 Transfer Window.

While props does go to Edu and Ayto a bigger extent for making the Zubimendi deal happen, I would still like to know where your're getting your information regarding the timing of the background communication and agreement between Arsenal and Palace over Eze. I think its important because if there was agreement when you say there was, it meant we wernt reacting to the Havertz injury by signing him.

I also think you're getting the roles at our club mixed up, Tim Lewis is Executive Vice Chair and Richard Garlick, who I presume you're referencing in regards to his work at West Brom is Managing Director.

We dont have a out and out Chairman, rather Stan and Josh are Co Chairs. Also if you're referncing Tim Lewis as having done hundreds of deals for Arsenal I am not sure that stacks up either. He's more of a rubber stamper and part of the "accountability" committee, its more Garlicks background for negotiating deals, although with Berta front and centre now Iam not sure how much involement Garlick has with direct discussions at the moment.

Financial analyst insists Arsenal do not need to sell this summer

Arsenal have invested heavily in strengthening their squad this summer, yet several players remain on the fringes of the team and are expected to be moved on in the coming days. The Gunners have committed significant funds to bolster their options, though the sale of surplus players is unlikely to cover even half of what has already been spent. Nevertheless, the club are eager to strike the right balance between new arrivals and departures as they prepare for the season ahead.

Balancing the books and the squad

When a side makes such substantial investments in its squad, it is often followed by an effort to recoup some of that money through player sales. This not only helps with the financial side of operations but also ensures that the manager does not continue working with individuals who are no longer part of his plans. For Arsenal, trimming the squad has become a necessary step, as the manager looks to keep focus on those capable of contributing meaningfully this season.

Supporters may wonder whether Arsenal’s spending spree has placed them in a position where sales are required to balance the books. Merino, Norgaard are weak links and we have a couple unknown entities but I think we filled the immediate gaps in our first 11 and brought in quality potential.

"Winning the Window" is such a ridiculous concept, spending hundreds of millions doesnt guarantee they will be a success. How many windows did United win when they were buying over hyped or aging stars paying them 300k pw.

Who "won" last summers window, I am pretty sure it wasnt Liverpool. I am fairly certain they were been derided for not spending and getting in a player like Zubimendi.

Frankly if it was Edu in charge of transfers in this window, it is very doubtful Arsenal will have brought in so many new players and renewed the contracts of players like MLS and Nwaneri. Despite what Ares said, have to give credit to Berta and his team. They have done a heck of a job in this window. Over to Arteta now.

I miss the winning the window parties they had. The procession and trophy. It was great once you won the window you didn’t have to bother about the 38 matches, it took all the stress out of the season.

I like the fact that people that enjoy their second place trophy hate the concept of winning the window. Again let me say 2 seasons ago Liverpool bought Szoboszlai,Gravenberch and Mac Allister in one window, they all went to liverpool together and all won the league together. While Second place doesn't guarantee you being even in the top 4 in the following season.
The transfer window is created to plug gaps in the side, some teams accomplish it better than others. Winning is getting your target. Its funny Arteta is not seen as an absolute failure for not getting a trophy in 5 years but again, some nuances are accepted.

I cant say I give much credance or pay much attention to people who adhere to the concept of "Winning the Transfer Window" being some sort of badge of honour, because Ive no doubt its usually followed up with a statement that X has spent Y so they must achieve Z or they should be sacked.

Its up there with people saying Arteta has been a failure because he hasnt won a "trophy" in 5 years. Such luminaries as EtH and Big Ange have won tin pots, are they deemed to be more "succesful" than Arteta even though they saddled one club with a ton of useless overpaid players and the other nearly got his team relegated.

The Daily Fail and a betting company podcast hosted by a Chelsea supporting wind up merchant who has somehow managed to eek a living by his "controversial" takes joined by fellow outrage merchant "personalities". I rest my case.

Speaking more broadly, Arteta has been backed for the most part bar a wordie LW, he now has options after running the team into the ground for the last few seasons due to the lack of quality back up, an oversite we are still paying for with injuries to Saka Havertz and Co.

He''l be judged on his achievements, if we finish second or third and are 3/5 points off the winners it isnt Arteta out time, however if we finish second again by double digits then there will have to be questions asked whether he is the guy to get us over the line.

This is the best squad I can ever remember Arsenal having. It's got quality and depth. It's time we won something. If Gyokeres bangs I think we'll win something this season.

Thinking Hincapie will turn into a very good useful signing for us.

The most successful summer transfer window is when Arteta bought Jesus and Zinchenko which made Arsenal title contender.

2025/26 Summer Transfer Window should be successful should Arteta achieve this KPI:
#1 - at least 2nd in the league, never mind winning the title.
#2 - semi-final or final in CL Cup.
#3 - one final either FA or EFL Cup
#4 - must achieve semi-final in all cup competitions.

Piero Hincapie transfer news: Arsenal agree season-long loan deal with option to buy defender

A five-year contract has been agreed with Piero Hincapie if the option the buy the 23-year-old is triggered.

Arsenal have agreed a deal with Bayer Leverkusen to sign Piero Hincapie on a season-long loan with an option to buy.

The package is worth £45m and the Ecuador international has been given permission to travel for a medical this weekend.

A five-year contract has been agreed with the 23-year-old if the option is triggered.

The Hincapie deal will accelerate Porto's move for Jakub Kiwior.

The deal for the Poland international is a loan with an obligation to buy and is worth £24m.

Is Arsenal move a surprise?

South American football expert Tim Vickery on Sky Sports News' Transfer Talk:


"Hincapie is a left-footed defender, he's a centre-back who can also play at left-back as well.

"He's not a flyer-up-the-wing kind of left-back. He likes to bring the ball out of the defence.

"I remember the first time I saw him in Ecuador, they threw him in as a teenager, and I had had my doubts.

On paper, this must be up there with one of the best.

Again, on paper, our squad looks so much stronger now.

It could be an exciting season ahead.

The same 3 players said to be missing last season that derailed our season, are missing for the Liverpool game. Havertz, Odegaard(doubt) and Saka. Last season some of us wanted a striker and they failed to get Sesko, some of us wanted a winger and they brought in Sterling. Some gave that window a 7/10 for Calafiori, Sterling and Merino.

I get what you're saying but his wages aren't a problem. They haven't precluded us from doing anything this summer.

the Ukraine international's wages could prove a major hurdle to Marseille getting a deal over the line.

I agree with that but you just knock a bit off the transfer fee and they give it to him as a signing on bonus.

A mass turnover of players is essential and that’s what happened. If we miss the league by 2 or 3 points this season, of course I want first, then the next year must be first. This is now the highest stage of the project. If we win the CL that would be momentous as it’s missing on our list of trophies.
It’s going to be a very interesting season. Swivel McNoscore has to shape up and find a new way to play for a start.

Has there ever been a manager in football history who has spent more than Arteta at the same club and won no major honours? Obviously Chelsea and Manchester United have spent egregious amounts of money in recent time but that was spread over quite a few different managers. I don't think anyone has spent anywhere near what Arteta has without delivering big trophies. And if that's the case, sorry but the club must - and I think will - get someone else if that doesn't change come next May in my opinion.

The expenditure must be near £1 billion since he became manager. Come on lads.

As David pointed out, this has been a brilliant window. If it doesn't happen this year it's not going to happen.

I do believe inflation plays it's part and i think Arsenal are on course to make this list.

On Hincapie. People will be surprised when he starts for us. I think he is being signed to play as a traditional LB. He gets up and down the touch line. None of this inverted full back stuff.
He's basically a Tierney type player when he plays LB (But a far far better footballer) He can also play CB but I think Calafiori will start playing there more often than Hincapie.

This allows Eze to play his natural game and come inside.

1st eleven needed 2 new players, Partey going made it 3.
Back ups needed 3 new players excluding Nwaneri and Dowman, Jorgihno and kiwior going made it 5.
There were still small contributors like Sterling and Tierney that went also. So we lost 5 players out of the squad there's still questions marks over Merino as Rice's backup, Norgaard as Zubimendi's back up. many wanted another type of LW We literally could still need 3 more players if we're being greedy, we may have a fit first 11 for the entire season, and they do the business, and this could be overkill.

IsaK, Ekitike, Wirtz, Kerkez, Frimpong is a good window but I still think we did a better job. Isak and Eketike are basically in the same position. Kerkez and Frimpng are not world class. We can still give Berta credit for getting us players but bring him down marks for not getting us a manager.

I was boosted so much by the window for us and had so high hopes.
Yesterday at Liverpool sent those hopes crashing.

I should have had more sense and realised Arsenal/Arteta always keep letting you down. Nothing changes.

Oh come on it’s not that bad - I was so enjoying your new found enthusiasm!

If after such a strong transfer window and Arsenal still does not win the league or CL, it will be painfully obvious where the issue lie.

Its too early to be drawing conclusions from one result or raising white flags. We have gone through quite a bit of change and with the injuries its left us caught between two stools, trying to integrate and understand the new players, whilst also missing the key first teamers who will get the most out of the new guys.

Liverpool for all their hundreds of millions dont look right either and have a lot of work to do bedding in that new attack.

What we need is a bit of stabilty and a platform to build understandings and effective patterns of play with more unpredictability from the likes of Eze etc, not loosing a key player or two every game we play.

#5 - Nelson on loan and hope he will have an injury free season.

Interesting come January 2026, do we have sufficient PPR leeway and UEFA 70% Salary Limit to buy new player(s) or sell Trossard once Havertz and Jesus are match fit by Dec/Jan?

Yes Zinny has gone on loan. But not buying him. We will still end up stuck with him.

I havnt seen anything in relation to his wages, itl depend on the loan fee etc. The most important thing is we got all the players who are surplass to requirement out the door, having a compact squad who feel involved is more important than picking up a few mill here and there for players that nobody really want to commit hard currency to before seeing them have a succesful loan period bar the likes of Kiwior.

Its an obligation to buy, based on I presume the usual parametres such as number of appearances etc.

The deal for Hincapie and Kiwior is somewhat complicated as it has clauses in the loan+buy agreement across all 3 clubs involved ie Arsenal, Porto and Leverkusen. Kudos to Berta for making this happen on the dateline.

Arsenal’s loan deals involving Piero Hincapie and Jakub Kiwior contain the same unusual purchase clause, according to a report.

On transfer deadline day, Arsenal completed the incoming loan of Piero Hincapie from Bayer Leverkusen and the outgoing loan of Jakub Kiwior to FC Porto.

The two deals very much depended on each other. Arsenal couldn’t afford to let Kiwior leave without a replacement, and they couldn’t afford to sign Hincapie unless Kiwior left.

James McNicholas reports for The Athletic that Arsenal tried to simplify matters by offering Kiwior to Leverkusen, but the German club weren’t interested. As a result, Andrea Berta had to carry out two negotiations in parallel.

Ideally, Arsenal, FC Porto, and Leverkusen all wanted the two loans to turn permanent next summer.

Porto wanted to put off payment for Kiwior to 2026, Arsenal wanted the same for Hincapie, and Leverkusen had already made sufficient sales this summer that they would benefit from delaying this transfer to next year too.

Yet a permanent transfer or a loan with an obligation to buy would see all three clubs including the deal in this year’s accounts.

A loan with an option to buy would allow them to delay the deal until next year, but how do you guarantee a loan with an option really will turn permanent? What if Porto decide not to sign Kiwior, leaving Arsenal with an extra centre-back to shift and no transfer fee next summer?

McNicholas reports that Berta’s solution was to give both clubs an option to buy. If Arsenal don’t activate Hincapie’s option, Leverkusen can. If Porto don’t activate Kiwior’s option, Arsenal can.

This does leave open the possibility that the deals don’t happen, if both Arsenal and Porto decided against activating the option for Kiwior’s transfer, for example. But that’s the entire point.

As long as there’s a possibility the deal won’t go through, the transfer isn’t guaranteed, so it doesn’t have to be accounted for in the current period.

Yet with both clubs holding an option to activate the purchase, it almost certainly will happen. Hincapie and Kiwior can effectively be considered permanent Arsenal and Porto players, even though the accounts won’t see it that way.

BILD now reveal that Hamburg agreed an initial loan fee of €400,000 for the 25-year-old, but that sum will be refunded if Vieira becomes a regular starter this campaign.

If Hamburg were to pursue a permanent transfer next summer, they would have to pay €20m, which would make Vieira the most expensive signing in their history.

Arsenal will certainly hope that becomes the case. If Vieira joins Hamburg on a long-term deal, the Gunners will retain a sell-on clause between 10 and 20 percent.

I do agree than EPL should follow Spain with a release clause inserted into player contract.
Like when we agreed to pay Partey 45-mil release clause, there is nothing A. Madrid can do about it as long as the player is willing to move.

All player agents will know it and if they wanted to move their client, just pay the release clause and that is the end of the story.

E.g.
Insert a 150-mil release clause in Saliba contract and if his entourage wanted Saliba to move to Real Madrid, just pay up.

At the moment, we are selling player poorly as most of them refused to sign contract extension and prefer to let it rundown to weaken Arsenal bargaining position.

Next summer, we will be lucky to get 15-mil for Trossard.

Most likely we will be stuck with Trossard and Martinelli since one will rundown his contract and the other is determined to fight for his place. Nothing Arsenal can do when player decided not to leave.
