Arsenal took a while to get going but once they did they played some good stuff. Watching us tonight you can see how good the Gunners could be with a couple of quality additions.
It was a routine victory in the end.
We're up to third and have the best run in of all the sides challenging for a top four place. It is in Arsenal's hands.
Ramsey was superb tonight, as he has been since returning to the side. We will need to sign a CM in the summer.
Ratings:
Leno - 6. Spectator.
Mustafi - 6. Okay for the most part but also looked like Newcastle's best chance of getting something from the game, either by diving in for a reckless tackle or with a loose/ under hit pass.
Sokratis - 7. Had a battle on his hands with Rondon but he came out on top.
Monreal - 7. Good performance, particularly later on. Harshly booked.
Maitland-Niles - 7. Always involved up and down the right, particularly in the first half.
Guendouzi - 7. Passed the ball very well. Don't know how he didn't get booked in the first half.
Ramsey - 9. Scored one, had one disallowed, ran tirelessly and defended well. Immense.
Kolasinac - 6. Was his usual self up and down the left throughout. His limited ability on the ball was evident as he could've had a number of assists.
Ozil - 8. He could win Emery's favour if he plays like that consistently. Retained possession, worked hard and passed well.
Lacazette - 8. Did very well tonight. Looked sharp, pushed Newcastle's defenders all the way, had one blocked on the line spectacularly and eventually took his goal very well.
Iwobi - 6. Moved and linked up well but was pretty quiet overall.
Subs:
Aubameyang - 6. Lively cameo as he assisted the second.
Elneny - 6. Passed well.
Mkhitaryan - 5. Didn't get into the game.
EDIT: Upped Guendouzi to 7 as think 6 is very harsh on reflection.
Arsenal 2 Newcastle 0
