Arsenal Left With A Lot To Do Player Ratings at Rennes

For most of the first half we were comfortable, taking the lead early on and having a couple of chances to extend it, but we failed to take them and the game was completely turned on its head by a mad minute.
Sokratis was sent off and they scored the follow up from the resulting free kick. Second half we were awful, never looked like scoring or preventing them from scoring. The third goal, in particular, was disgraceful.
A lot to do in the second leg...
RATINGS
Cech - 6. Don't think he could've done much about any of the goals.
Mustafi - 5. Not our worst defender on the night. Another who rode his luck. Sokratis - 3. Committed three "bookable" offences, got booked for two of them and cost us the game. A shame after all the praise he has received this week. Koscielny - 5. Didn't do too badly under the circumstances. Monreal - 4. Thought he had a good first half against Sarr but the own goal was careless and he completely disappeared for the third.
Xhaka - 5. Again I thought he didn't do badly under the circumstances but he was lucky not to be sent off as well. Torreira -
Mkhitaryan - 6. Gets credit for filling in at right back. Ozil - 5. Didn't get into the game at all. Iwobi - 7. His opener may have had a touch of fortune about it but first half I thought he was quality. Very disappointed he was substituted early.
Aubameyang - 3. Didn't help us today. First touch was awful.
Subs:
Guendouzi - 5. Tried but didn't do much. Ramsey - 5. Didn't get into the game. Kolasinac - 3. Lazy. Poor cameo.
Well what you missed Merl was very telling. Ramsey, a player who won't even be here next season, busting a gut to try and get back to cover for the third goal, while Monreal, Kolasinac and Guendouzi were nowhere to be seen. I'm still fuming at that.

Yeah Ramsey always tries to get back doesn't he...

We’re tslking about this occasion.
It was telling you didn’t post after the Spurs game. Ramsey had a great game. I remember you always calling Eduardo ‘Edgenda’. There no one with a bigger agenda than you my friend. We will miss Ramsey!

I know our defence is poor, but we are bigging Man U up a bit too much here. They scored 1 at Spurs and 1 at Leicester, they scored zero at home against PSG. The last few years we have either lost or drew this fixture at home, so a draw is not an impossiblity.
Maybe we will lose it, but even then we have (on paper) easier matches than our main competitors to come.
Spurs seem on a downward spiral to their annual bottling.
Yep we might fail to get back into the top four in Emery's first year but I think we could advance in points gained.
However without a major overhaul of the defence its unlike we can challenge for major honours whoever the manager is.

Arteta on his team's first away victory at a club above them in the Premiership since September 2015 at Leicester.
During Wenger Era, we never lost to a French team at home.
The problem is that can we score at least 2 goals and keep a clean-sheet.
I fancy Leno to start rather than Cech if Emery is serious on winning Europa League Cup.
