Arsenal first club to qualify as Citeh await Euro

The result was far more interesting than the match. What was even more amazing was that Man City, Man United and Chelsea still haven’t qualified. Usually it’s the other way around as Arsenal wait for the final match to gain qualification. Not only that but Arsenal have won the group, no Barcelona to knock the Gunners out. Now they can travel to Greece without a care. Who would have predicted it?
The ground took a long time to fill up as the Victoria line had serious delays, and probably half the fan base arrives by the Victoria line. But they needn’t of worried as the first half was tedious and boring. By the time the tube system finally spewed out the Arsenal faithful there was still a substantial smattering of empty seats. And a substantial smattering of away fans sitting around the ground. DJarse text me a whole row were sitting in front of him.
The only ball that might have gone in, just going wide of the Northbank goal, was from Dortmund, meanwhile Gervinho froze in front of goal when presented with a nailed on chance. I am not sure if he is a superior or inferior Eboue, time will tell. DJ text me one word at end of first half “Boring” I text back one word “indeed”.
As I watched the second half my mind began to drift, Dortmund seemed to have Arsenal in an iron grip, the team was not getting to the by-line, well not Walcott or Gervinho. Surely it needed a substitute to break the deadlock was my line of thinking. But cometh the hour cometh the man, or but 49 minutes to be precise Song did an impression of Stanley Matthews, out on the wing beating three men, cross and RvP headed it in. Quite an unusual combination. The Arsenal crowd woke up at last, the old tunes are the best, one nil to the Arsenal. Dortmund fans sang back in perfect English, you only sing when you’re winning. The Arsenal crowd responded, “we sing when we’re winning” and “who are you”. Up till then the silence had been embarrassing. Its a good job we have one Song, and he was Man of the Match. The home going crowd were sang his praises.
The match was not safe until the 86th minute, when Vermaelen headed a perfect assist into the goal mouth and RvP smashed it in. At last we could celebrate. The match was a bore, mainly due to Dortmund’s game plan, they restricted Arsenal to five chances. But only made five on target for themselves (though 9 in total) considering they were in the last chance saloon that wasn’t enough.
Of course no Arsenal performance is complete without conceding a flaky goal. Fortunately there was only 40 seconds to go so it proved to be a consolation goal and we were spared squeaky bum time. The news came in that Olympiacos and Marseille had drawn, which was probably the third loudest cheer of the night. It’s even possible that Arsenal could survive a few rounds of the knock out stage as they will now miss Barcelona. But the real irony is that Citeh could be in the euro next year. Meanwhile Eduardo the statto of Arsenal Times informs us, “those goals made it 38 goals in 41 games for Arsenal in 2011 by RVP”.

.. i too i'm truly shocked that the MIGHTY CITEY are yet to qualify. as for utd, watched their game & they are not very convincing.. i bet they will go for a midfield maestro come January..as for chelski, i expect AVB to be fired; the bets are already on big time.
SONG was super & robin van bang is the MAN!!!!!!!!!! PLEASE RVP STAY FIT OR WE ARE BURST.. can you imagine how prolific rvp's goal scoring record would have been if he stays fit.
well someone said Arsenal conceded a dying minute goal cos they are arsenal.. i just didn't bother to ask what he meant cos a lot of people have something negative to say about us always.
