All views are welcome at Arsenal Times, and although the article below concurs with much of our editorial policy, AT does not support swapping one billionaire for another, but agrees with the AST policy of a plural ownership. All billionaires are suspect, and no doubt, in their own way, both Kroenke and Usmanov are capable of dictatorial and brutal decision making. What is needed is more fan participation in club ownership. But Noble Trojan raises important issues here that need serious consideration, and his call for the board and Gazides to go is one this blog supports.

This defeat will remain in the consciousness of not just all Arsenal fans until the day they die but in the memory of every football fan. Sadly it will be remembered as the day that Wenger decided to send a team not even fit to make the Carling Cup line up against the Champions and still expect to get something out of the game. It is worst than when Mr Blair sent our troops to fight a war in Iraq without the proper equipment. Most of the souls who were fighting for the Arsenal name were not worthy of the shirt they were wearing. I shudder to think of the effect it will have on a young Arsenal fan in the school playground.
The board is not fit for purpose. Are they ashamed of the historic defeat? No. They will be lying if they say yes. Their bank balance tells a different story. David Dein sold his shares for £75 million. Nina Bracewell sold hers for£123 million and Fiszman’s sold his last batch, days before he died, for a similar sum after already having sold substantial amounts in 2009. Peter Hill-Wood a minority shareholder gained some £4million. They did not even have the decency to wait for the final whistle at Manchester. Should they resign? Yes. Will they resign? No. Every fan should remember that the board did not have the decency to wait for the final whistle at Manchester. One must also remember that the board made all their money on the back of Wenger’s policy of producing buying cheap and selling high. Should Wenger feels aggrieved with the directors when they sold their shares to Kronke? Yes.
It was a monumental mistake when they decided they could do without the services of David Dein. One should remember the reason they decided to get rid of David Dein was because he was instrumental in looking for outside investors for the club. The Arsenal transfer policy does not work. We can go as far back as when Fiszman refused to sanction the extra £5000 a week for Ashley Cole, consequently we ended up losing one of the best left backs in the country to Chelsea. Do I blame Ashley Cole, on reflection. No. Do I blame Fabregas or Nasri for leaving the sinking ship. No. The whole football world predicted that both players will be gone by the start of the season except for the board even the bookies refused to offer odds on both players leaving Arsenal. The current transfer policy has turned the club into a feeder club.
It is time for players like Arshsavin, Rosicky,Squillaci,Walcott to seek new pastures. I doubt there will be many clubs rushing to buy their services. Walcott should be stripped of the number 14 shirt, every season he seems to cheapen the value of the number 14 shirt. Walcott has always promised so much but deliver so little. His treatment of Jenkinson yesterday was appalling. In my view he is becoming more of a salesman than a football player. I would prefer he did his talking on the pitch than in his biography, or in interviews to national newspapers.
We desperately need a new Chief executive. Gazides is no David Dein. We need a new CEO who can manage and develop a good working relationship with Wenger. We need a new CEO who can manage transfers better than Gazides. I have yet to find out what he values most, winning trophies or making money for Kroenke.
Is Kroenke the right person to take ownership of AFC? I believe not. Do I believe that he will release cash from the club assets? Yes. Has the board made the mistake in backing him instead of Usmanov? Yes. Usmanov has been more vocal in his desire to see Arsenal succeed. He has urged the board to invest in the new players.
Will the young players ever recover from this traumatic experience? This remain to be seen. I believe Kieran Gibbs has never recovered from the defeat against Man Utd in the Champion league semi-final. In the same way I do not believe that offering a free ticket to the travelling supporters to the next away game will ever erase the experience from their memory. The true hero on Sunday were the fans, not the directors, the manager or the players. Every one watching on TV could hear their voice urging the players to go on.
Now its time to create a management structure that is worthy of the fans. Getting rid of the board and Gazides would be a start.

The truly sad thing is that people sold their shares to him, with far greater engagment in the club and its history. Those people should be f8cking VILIFIED in my opinion. They knew what they were doing. They protested that they didnt like the look of him, then, when they realised the colour of his money , they all sold their shares. That is truly reprihensible behaviour, proper turncoat stuff.

He also owns the NBA Denver Nuggets who have not won anything in his 11 years as owner and the NFL St.Louis Rams, another consistently mediocre team.

well, they just made 50 million on transfers and are still taking 3.5 million a home game. Indeed, three years down the line it may not be the same case, but who says he's in it for that long.
who should we really blame, wenger, the board or fans who have cried foul over the years?? i believe wenger was ok with the board cos they gave him the power to continue his scientific experiment.. it took a total disgraceful world cup to get the french football association to sack that demenech or what ever that astrologer is called..so it may take something more than this annihilation to get the board to ease up on this madness..
i fear the consequences of this total lack of feeling for fans has cheapened the arsenal brand.. THE BEST OPTION IS TO GET PLAYERS FROM 30 YEARS UP, PAY THEM FAT WAGES & GIVE THEN 2 YEARS..THEY WILL HELP THESE PRESENT BROKEN PLAYERS UNDERSTAND WHAT IT TAKES TO FIGHT OR PUSH FOR A TROPHY..DRASTIC BUT A SAFE OPTION.

This summer has been a catalogue of neglect and mismanagment,a PR disaster From Kranky to Wenger no one comes out with any credit.
I agree with the Walcott situation although I think the kid needs bringing down a peg or two if that doesn't happen sell him.
i feel sorry for Jenkinson, his quality is being argued yet he fought hard all game with no back up, the last full back embarassed in a 6-1 at O-T was Cashley Cole so there is hope for the young man and he certainly looks to be made of the stuff we require.
The whole Kroenke situation is @#$%&, I think we should look harder at the concilliatory speak from other managers even SAF who had every right to be a totally smug @#$%& but didn't take it, there is big @#$%& happening here and I think they know what it is.
My guess Aw done the dirty work, got a club overstretched financially punching above its weight for 5 years returning CL soccer every year, using smoke and mirrors to make everybody think they were watching the silkiest football they had ever seen and then when it was time to re-invest, all the deal makers sold their shares and left him up @#$%& creek, I know this will get me called an AKB but its a better theory than a man who manages 2 double winning sides and an invincible team suddenly being completely clueless, and before you all jump on that bandwagon I have always hated his substitutions, his lack of plan b, and his failure to gradually replace an aging defence piece by piece to retain the defensive knowledge, I think its time for him to go but not this early in the season with no transfer window left, He needs to turn things around himself, my fear is he is actually trying to prove a point to the board which could auger well for the long term of this club but will put us on the rockiest road yet.
