Well everyone thanks for entering the inaugural Arsenal Times (AT) end of season survey. I got about 20 replies, and believe me once I realised how much work goes into collating the answers, I wouldn’t have wanted many more. I think it is encouraging to see the amount of trouble people went to, in giving detailed and reasoned responses.
Some used it as an excuse to let off a bit of steam about the club. There were some rather strange, idiosyncratic returns. But overall I think you will agree that it was a very interesting exercise and well worthwhile.
Indeed so detailed were the replies that the results will appear in three sections. Without further ado, I will commence giving you the summary with Part 1. The rest will follow over the next few days in Parts 2 and 3.
GOAL OF THE SEASON
A two horse race this one, between Cesc v Spurs, and Nasri v Porto. By the points system I devised (3 for first place 2 for second etc), Nasri wins by ONE POINT. Congratulations to Samir, from all at AT then, and how about trying some of your mercurial skill in AWAY games next season, mate. And doing some tackles. Cesc and Samir were some 20 points ahead of the field, but I give you the top 5 as follows
1) Nasri v Porto
2) Cesc v Spurs
3) Arshavin v Liverpool
4) Arshavin v Man U
5) Vermaelen v Wigan
PLAYER OF THE SEASON
Well, it won’t take a rocket scientist to work out this one, in fact only three players even attracted votes. Vermaelen got one vote, as did Bendnter (don’t worry I have alerted the mental health authorities), and EVERY OTHER VOTE went to Cesc (gulp!).

YOUNG PLAYER OF THE SEASONNow I didn’t bother stipulating an age here, or if I did I can’t remember it. But I think we are all agreed on the definition of ‘young’. You know, 22, 23 ish maximum. Alex Song wins, by one point from Aaron Ramsey. So that is two disappointments for Aaron this season then. Bendtner comes third, and there was a vote for Wilshere, from someone who perhaps forgot that he didn’t play for us more than about once.
MOST DISAPPOINTING PLAYER OF THE SEASON
There was quite a wide range of votes here. And the result was a dead heat between Mr Arshavin, Mr Denilson, and Mr Margarine Hands Lukas Fabianski. If we want to consider that the Denilson voters were probably trying to wind up Tom, Arshavin and Fabianski are the winners. Theo Walcott, Almunia and Eduardo then come in next, with other mentions going to Vela and Almunia and Sagna. Rather worryingly, that’s half the first team that has attracted votes.
BEST GOAL AGAINST ARSENALOh dear oh dear. Can you not remember the horror as the ball rocketed into the net? The feeling of helplessness... What are you thinking, AT voters?

1) DANNY ROSE’s lucky mishit at the Lane.2) Rooney’s fortuitous counter attack in the 3-1 defeat at Emirates.
3) Drogba’s swerving free kick at the Emirates in the 3-0 defeat.
Messi got a few votes, as did N’Zogbia. But Mr Rose, in the surely the ultimate highlight of a career that I hope will end up in the doldrums of Crystal Palace reserves, wins the coveted AT prize for this season.
BEST MATCHSurprising how many of you seemed to enjoy watching our team run around chasing shadows for 70 minutes, before scraping a fortuitous draw which saw our three best players end up in hospital, but Arsenal 2 v Barcelona 2 gets a dead heat with the much more enjoyable Spurs home game here. Everton away was the only game that attracted any other significant votes. Oh how it all seemed so promising back on that sunny day last August...
BEST ATMOSPHEREI couldn’t get a ticket for Arsenal v Barcelona, so logically it has been voted the atmosphere of the season, or at least joint best atmosphere with the Spurs home game. No other game got more than one vote, Liverpool away, Bolton home, and Celtic away get a mention, and finally Man City home from someone who clearly enjoys getting tanked up all afternoon on lager then screaming abuse at one of our illustrious ex-players.
BEST ASSISTIf I was going to do this next year, I would make this one multiple choice, because people seemed a bit vague on the old ‘assists’. There were lots of answers like ‘that thingy Eduardo did in that game against someone or other’. Consequently it was hard to decipher the winner but it appears Mr Samir Nasri carries this one off as well, for his imperious chip over the Burnley defence to Cesc in our 3-1 home win. So that is goal of the season and assist of the season from a player that nobody appears to actually like.
WENGER’S BEST ACHIEVEMENT OF THE SEASONAgain, rather a hotchpotch of responses, and hard to classify, but it was pretty clear that we are forgiving bunch, and that coming in the top four despite a net profit on transfers, is Wenger’s greatest achievement, even though he did his best to wreck it. Getting the best out of Song was another prominent vote, as was buying Vermaelen.

i didnt get tickets for barca cos they somehow got taken by ppl who queued up in that silly online ticket service since 7am but the spurs home game was prob the best atmosphere the emirates has experienced and which lasted the duaration of the match.
eg the first 10 mins v manure
the first 20 and last 20 mins v barca
pishing on spurs at home is hardly anything novel is it
...it must have been hard work collating all the answers and I appreciate your efforts......i'm waiting patiently for part 2

That was my best assist and indeed that was a great ball by Nasri.

yeah u can say it.it was me but you must remeber the goal where cecs and eddy done the 1-2 backheel all i remeber we were wearing white and it waas against a lower team,ie wh,burnley,wolves,hull.
im sorry u know how my memory is
