What a great weekend for Arsenal fans, and the team is yet to play, but with Manchester United losing, and Chelsea drawing, there is a real chance of the Gunners stretching their lead to five points over the former, and by eight over the latter. United have now lost four games, which should be one too many for a team aspiring to be champions.
However, it will only be one too many if Arsenal deliver the coup de grace against Blackburn.
In the week that the idiotic idea of an extra match to be played abroad was floated, Arsenal have already paid the price of extra games. Song limped off in the Africa final, as did Senderos, and Flamini in their respective matches. The injury list is longer than ever.
At the time of writing, it is not entirely clear who is fit and who is injured. Flamini and Senderos might recover in time. Almunia caught a virus from the germ factory next to the treatment table. Djourou, Denilson, Diaby, RvP and Rosicky are almost certainly out of contention.
Toure and Eboue were rested for the third place match, so hopefully they could be back fit and raring to go. Though if Toure plays like he did in the Semi we will all be hoping that Swiss Phil is available. Any Old Win Will Do As always International football has done severe damage to our squad, but a bare bones eleven should still be too good for Blackburn.
However, with all this disruption, and I hope I am wrong in saying, it might not be Arsenal at their most fluid. However, forget how well we play, those draw specialists (Chelsea) have been crap for months and still ground out the results, so as long as we win I don’t bloody care. Just get those three points lads, any old win will do. This is a big big chance, fail to take it and the club could really go on to regret it.
Added Bonus
Widow Twankey, or Robbie Savage as his mum quaintly calls him, no longer plays for Blackburn. Whether we miss this panto villain, or not, remains to be seen.
Sorcerer's Apprentice
It should be kept in mind that Blackburn have quite a good away record. Incredibly they have lost one less away than Man U. No doubt the apprentice is on the phone, this very moment, seeking advice on how to beat the Gunners. Though how he should know beats me, he doesnt even know how to beat Man City at home.
I think it will be down to Adebayor to grab us a scrappy headed goal or something. We'll definitely be weakened, but Blackburn has 7 or 8 injuries as well. Injuries have pretty much fatigued every big team around the world so there's no excuse if we can't scrap one out.
Cant see AW going with cesc n hleb. who else do we have available? Flams, Diaby, Denilson, Gilberto, Rosicky, RVP, Senderos, Djourou, Almunia all injured right?
Flamini says he will be fit, Wenger even said Flamini and Senderos had a chance to play. Gilberto is back fit again so if Flamini is out then Gilberto alongside Cesc. Hoyte may play CD if Senderos is not fit and if Toure is deemed too tired to play. No matter who we field it is vital that the attitude is right and we take all 3 points, we will not forgive ourselves if we fail to take advantage of todays slip ups
gilbo is fit i think - stick him in CB its gonna rain high balls to Santa Cruz the whole nite, Gallas Clichy can covr any pace they have.
Hopefully Flamini will be fit.
ONe thing to mention.....Diarra would have started this happens arsenal every season! Stupide reason 4 him to go!!
Lehmann is a decent keeper so not worried there
Saga, Gallas, Clichy fit....so Gilbo/Senderos/ Toure/Hoyte/ to fill in
Hleb, Cesc are fit, i think walcott is.... maybe we shouldnt have let rnadall and Gibbs go...
Eduardo and Adebayor r fit, think Bentdner is, maybe Eduardo will play left wing and just leave a load of kids on the bench?
Lansbury, Barazite...could be their chance! Stranger things have happened
Please no panic. it is Wenger Kidology at work, as well as to ensure that our youngsters are not over-confident and think that they all got the god-given rights to win by just stepping ontot he pitch....to their sorrows at Boros, as well as Newcastle....
I am confidently that we will tear Balckburn into pieces especially tehir first choice CB are missing, plus our strategy is to press them, attack them and deny them possession.
look, it is almost our first team out there:
..................Lehmann
...Sagna....Hoyte.....Gallas....Clichy
...Walcott....Fabregas...GIlberto...Hleb
...........Adebayor...Eduardo
Sagna-Walcott and Clichy-Hleb are more than adequate to handle any threat from the flanks, esepcially with a distraght Derbyshire, if he plays, thinking more on the impending birth of his twin.
An egoistic David Bentley will be too much of an individual in his obsession to destroy Arsenal...more the better as his obsession will destroy whatever team-work Blackburn needs to attack us. Just watch Fabregas, Diaby and et al winding him up to unsettle him.
And with Hleb holding up play, Walcott providing pace and thrust down the flank, and Adebayor-Eduardo partnership worth at least a goal, we will win as Fabregas and Hleb will contribute to goal tally as well.
I have a feelignt hat time for Walcott to score his first premeirship goal today.
if Hoyte is suspended, then we are really down to bare-bone, and we may have to rotate Hleb to central midfield
....................Lehmann
...Sagna......Gilberto....Gallas....Clichy
...Walcott....Fabregas...Hleb....Eduardo
.............Adebayor....Bendtner
But I am prettys usre that one of them willr ecover in time - Diaby or Flamini?
And also, one of the youngsters - Barazite, Lansbury, Gilbert and even Nordtveit may feature.
And I suspect that we may force to paly a 3-5-2 due to lack of CB, with Glberto as the Invisible Wall:
...................Lehmann
...Sagna............Gallas...........Clichy
Walcott...Fabregas...Gilberto...Hleb...Lansbury
..............Adebayor....Eduardo
Sagna-Fabregas-Walcott protectign right flank;
Clichy-Lansbury-Eduardo protecting left flank
Fabregas-Gilberto-Hleb battling in the middle; and height of Gilerto cutting out crosses to De Cruz.
The idea is to suffocate Hughes tactics of swinging in crosses from the flanks.
And with Hleb in a free role down the middle, Balckburn midfielders will spend all their time chasing shadows with Fabregas one-touch passing ability to switch plays, as well as opening up Blackburn like a can of sardiens for Adebayor, Walcott and Eduardo to exploit.
Don't worry. Hughes is more worry about our counter-attacking techniques than to attack Arsenal.
Hughes is obsessed with that "6-2 sucker punch" counter-attacking style of ours when he was committed to attack us.
Not this match. he will stick to his tried and proven 4-5-1 for a point, and hopefully, snatch a lucky 1-0 victory.
