Jenas wants Newcastle stay

Despite constant speculation linking Newcastle United’s Jermaine Jenas with a move to Spurs, it is being reported this morning that he would like to stay at Newcastle and fight for his place in the team. He had told his manager and team mates that he was unhappy on Tyneside, which had sparked a flurry of rumours, but Local press are reporting this morning, that there has been a change of heart and he is now determined to retain his place for the game against West Ham on Saturday.

Jenas is currently linked up with England and has had his red card at Highbury downgraded to a yellow, avoiding the ban that would have come with a red card:

"The Football Association can confirm that Jermaine Jenas's dismissal during the Arsenal versus Newcastle United match has been reduced to a caution," explained a FA spokesman yesterday.

"Having reviewed a video of the incident, match referee Steve Bennett requested that the red card be downgraded to a yellow card.

"In accordance with FA rules, the matter was considered by a disciplinary commission which confirmed the decision. Jenas will therefore not serve any suspension."

Which is all very well and good but it doesn’t get Newcastle any points, or explain any of his other atrocious decisions against Newcastle he has made down the years.

Will the FA take any action against him, or will the sickening old boy’s network spring up to protect one of their own again. No matter how incompetent that individual may be?
