In their search for a new striker, Dutch giants PSV Eindhoven seem to have set their sights on Bayern München striker Roy Makaay, 32. The experienced striker is said to be the main target for the Eindhoven-based club to boost their attacking options.
This season the club was very dependent on the form of attacking duo Arouna Koné - Jefferson Farfán, as new arrivals Patrick Kluivert and Diego Tardelli have done little to impress. PSV are still in the pole position in the fight for the title in the Eredivisie, leading AZ Alkmaar by two points with two matches to go.
Reports of the interest on Makaay are somewhat conflicting with previous reports, that PSV would be planning to replace their old players with younger ones. Captain Phillip Cocu is expected to retire after this season and Kluivert, having failed to impress this season might be looking a way out.
PSV are also said to be interested in Twente forward Kennedy Bakircioglü, who has enjoyed a productive season at the season's surprise package Twente. Sharbel Touma of the same club has also been mentioned in the speculation, as has Orlando Engelaar as the possible replacement for Cocu.
