Arsenal to snatch Spurs striker

By John Miller
June 23 2007

Arsenal will follow up their interest in Spurs striker Dimitar Berbatov. The Bulgarian has been subject of strong transfer rumours during the last couple of weeks with big guns Man Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal all being linked. The latter now seem favourites to land the 26-year old. Wenger's team have jumped the queue mainly because Manchester United have pulled out of the race to sign Spurs' most pricest assett as they already spend over £50million this summer. Arsenal are reported to have tabled a £25million offer plus Gilberto Silva and Emmanuel Adebayor. Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy's reluctance to sell their star striker seem to have cooled and a deal could be struck early next week. This news will come as a shock for most Spurs' fans but with the Darren Bent transfer almost dusted and done it looks like Tottenham will have a quality forward line again next season.
