Ajax reject Charisteas bid

Spanish side RCD Mallorca have made a bid of £1.4 million for Ajax and Greece striker Angelos Charisteas. Ajax have rejected the offer. Charisteas swapped Weder Bremen for Ajax in a £3.4 million move last January. The tall striker was bought as replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic but he never lived up to the expectations.

Ajax trainer Danny Blind already made it clear that new boy Markus Rosenberg and youngster Ryan Babel are ahead of Charisteas in the picking order.

Europeanfootballnews.co.uk reported last week that Ajax offered Charisteas to Mallorca but Mallorca didn't wanted to pay Ajax's asking price.

Mallorca offered £1.4 million yesterday for the EURO 2004 hero but Ajax rejected the offer.
