Fifa has been asked to step in and help John Obi Mikel stay at Chelsea by the player himself. He claims to have been forced into signing a contract for Manchester United against his wishes, and hopes to be able to remain with Chelsea. "Everything is with Fifa now. I just want them to take decisions for me," Mikel told the Daily Mail.

"But I just have to make my own final decision. I just want them to sort out things for me because everyone just wants to get money for themselves and I don't think that's nice.

"Fifa should look into that and help me because they all know the truth.

"I left United two years ago and I haven't spoken to anyone from United before I went to Chelsea.

"So I didn't have any interest in United any more. I took that out of my head, then I fell in love with Chelsea.

"All my heart and mind was to play with Chelsea because the coach likes me, the people there like me, the players - the big boys - they all like me.

"I saw that my future is going to be bright in Chelsea so I decided to stay there."
