Bayern drink the beers while Schalke have the slop

There was a power failure the day this seasons Bundesliga began, but Bayern never ran out of electrical energy in clinching this years championship. Schalke 04 had attempted to run them a close race but lost out in the end as Bayern Munich won through.

3 games are left in the Bundesliga but three goals by Roy Makaay were enough to hand Bayern a record 18th title.

On his hatrick:

"That's why I joined Bayern -- to win titles," Makaay said.
The Veteran speaks:

"This is my fifth title and one of the best -- I hope we can make it a double with the German Cup," said French defender Bixente Lizarazu.

A word from the coach:

"It's a real relief, a real joy to finally win a title," said Bayern's rookie coach, Felix Magath.

And on Schalke’s fall:

"After they beat us, it was crucial that Mainz beat them the next week to give us a psychological advantage. It's not so easy to stay on top," Ballack said.
