Real Madrid midfielder Thomas Gravesen has defended the clubs transfer policy and believes the club needs more time.

Gravesen has become an important part of the Real Madrid team since leaving Everton in January after 4 years on Merseyside.

The Dane believes that Madrid will sign some new faces in the summer and the club need time to build a squad capable of challenging for all major honours.

Gravesen said:

"I do not believe that the project of the Galcticos, as it is called, has gone wrong,"

"I believe it would be too strong to say that we have failed. I do not know what players we need because that is a job for the coach, Sacchi and the directors.

"I think it almost certain that people will come in to add to what is already here. You cannot create a team over night.

"I was at Everton for four years and only now have they formed a team that is capable of fighting for a Champions League place. You need to time to be able to fight for all the trophies."
