Celtic's Sno picked for Holland

Holland coach Marco van Basten has surprisingly picked Celtic's Evander Sno and AZ's David Mendes Da Silva for Wednesdays friendly against England. David Mendes Da Silva was signed by Louis van Gaal during last summers transfer window and broke into AZ's first team recently. A serie of excellent performances have been rewarded with a place in the Holland squad.

The opposite can be said of Evander Sno, who joined Celtic during the summer. The 19-year old only started three games for Celtic in the league and made five sub appearances.

AZ duo Tim de Cler and Demy de Zeeuw were dropped from the initial squad. Manchester United and Holland captain Edwin Van der Sar decided to take some rest and did not join the squad.

Van Basten decided not to call up Ibrahim Afellay yet, the PSV midfielder has yet to decide whether he wants to play for Morocco or Holland. Van Basten aims to talk to the player first before picking him.

Ajax midfielder Hedwiges Maduro is back in the Holland fold, the 21-year old made his comeback from a massive dip in form lately and has been starting for Ajax again recently.

HSV captain Rafael van der Vaart is ready for his Holland comeback too. The playmaker is finally recovered from his hip injury.
