Recharge mission for Inter striker Adriano

Inter Milan striker Adriano has been granted a period of rest by his employers. The big Brazilian has been a shadow of his former self so far this season with a handful of awful displays and not scoring a single goal. Inter coach Roberto Mancini blamed the impact of Brazil's disappointing World Cup campaign for his striker's poor form so far this season.

Adriano is expected to be ready to play in about a month after being ordered home to Brazil for rest.

"He will have one week of rest in Brazil," said Inter coach Roberto Mancini.

"We say that in approximately a month Adriano will be ready to play."

Adriano struggled for form last season and has also begun this season poorly. The last time he scored for the Nerazzurri was March last season.

The 24-year-old will leave for Brazil today and spend at least a week there in order "to unwind and to recharge the batteries".

He will then follow a fitness programme prepared by Inter to maintain a decent physical level but the main intention of Inter is to allow Adriano to recover psychologically.
