It had taken until the last game of the first round of Group matches for a REAL shock to happen. Spain, everybody's favourites to win the World Cup, unless you are a fan of the remaining participating countries, suffered an embarrassing 1-0 defeat at the hands of Switzerland in Group H.
Gelson Fernandes scored the only goal of the game in the 52nd minute.
Spain started with both Fabregas and 'ladyboy' Fernando 'Carragher's bit on the side' Torres on the bench and of the two, Torres came on with 30 minutes to go, but he couldn't make any impact.

Must be something to do with his new hair-do. Gone is the 'ladyboy' blonde highlighted locks, replaced by a short dark trim instead. Maybe a new appearance for a pending 'transfer' to London.
Perhaps Liverpool's Chelsea supporting, season-ticket holding chairman is hell-bent on dismantling the team that Benitez built?!?! which will help reduce the huge debt accured by the Hicks and Gillet 'brothers.'
With Chile beating Honduras earlier on in the day, by the same score, the pressure is definitely on the Paella eaters.
Lets hope the competition starts to liven up a bit now that the second round of group matches are upon us. Most of the games so far, have been dull and uninspiring and from SIXTEEN matches, ONLY TWENTY-FIVE goals have been scored.
South Africa and Uruguay kicked off the 2nd round of group matches with Uruguay beating the hosts, 3-0.
Diego Forlan scored twice, a 25 yarder which took a slight deflection, and a penalty after Bafana Bafana's 'keeper Khune was sent-off for tripping Uruguay's Suarez.
Uruguay's 3rd came deep into injury-time via Pereira's head and chest.
