Numerous Saves

Two disappointments surfaced from last night's game in hand at the KC Stadium against strugglers Hull City. The first being conceding another goal from a set-piece (fifteen this season) and the fact that we didn't play well throughout. Thats was probably more down to Hull than ourselves. They pressed and pressed us and didn't give Chelsea room to breathe.

Credit to Hull and their under-fire manager Phil Brown, Hull clearly caused Chelsea problems down the left - Hunt v Ivanovic at one point could have got nasty, Ivanovic eventually booked.

Still, although we didn't play well we still created enough chances to win the game comfortably, but Boaz Myhill stood between us and three points, which would have seen Chelsea clear at the top by four points.

Chelsea have to settle for two points clear and Goonerville come a visiting on Sunday.

Myhill, like Joe Hart on Boxing Day, played a blinder. He saved from Ballack, Drogba, Ivanovic, Malouda, Terry and Lampard but for me the pick of his fine saves was in the last few minutes when substitute Danny Sturridge broke clear and his thunderous volley was tipped round the post at full stretch.

Mouyokolo gave Hull the lead with a free-close range header and then from a free-kick just outside the area, returning Didier Drogba curved a twenty-yarder round the wall and past Myhill's despairing dive to his left.

'Anco' wasn't too disappointed with the result. He said, "I think that we did our best but it was a tough game. Hull played a very good game and put a lot of pressure, I think it is a good result.

"We don't have to be disappointed, sometimes it can happen against a small team, we can draw. We are at the top of the table and have to look forward.

"I think we are in a good position now, we are in top, we know very well Manchester is a fantastic opponent, it will be a long race until the end of the season and for now we are happy with two more points. It was an opportunity but it is impossible to win every game."

Typical that they play and fight like that against us - just hope that they don´t roll-over against the others...
