Chelsea 3-0 Birmingham: Arrive Early - Stop Moaning

It is a fascinating quirk with all football fans to have that last quick pint and make a dash to the ground at the last minute and then you wonder why it takes so long to get in and you end up missing five to ten minutes of the action. Moaning, complaining, 'hurry up,' and the chances are you miss the best part of the game as well because you are running backwards and forwards to the loo.

This is exactly what happened at Chelsea last night. Chelsea's entry system JUST cannot cope with the demands of up to a 1,000 people trying to gain entry in the blocks of two turnstiles per gate entrance and yours truly got caught up in the melee and missed the first goal of the game.

I was late simply because I was late - nothing to do with the last minute dash from the pub - I was late SIMPLEES!!

So a message to all you latecomers.

LEAVE THE PUB EARLY AND HAVE THAT LAST PINT WHEN YOU GET IN THE GROUND!!

Normally I get into the ground twenty minutes before kick-off, sometimes thirty, now I reckon if everybody arrived TEN minutes than they normally would, the system would cope and everybody would be happy and seated just as the game kicks off, and to be fair to Chelsea, every single week, they ask for fans to arrive early.

Chelsea destroyed Birmingham's brilliant unbeaten record with goals from Malouda (who changed his hairstyle AGAIN) and two from Super Frank who now appears to be back to his best, revelling the role that 'Anco' has given him.

Even a Brum fan, I overhead say to his mate on the phone after the game, 'we were completely battered.' To be fair to Birmingham they were a better team in the second-half and Cech made a brilliant save to tip over a Fahey effort close range.

James McFadden left Cech scrambling and scrawling, but his shot just went past the post.

Joe Hart, who kept Chelsea at bay on Boxing Day, had little chance with all three goals and again on a few occasions he stopped further efforts from Ashley Cole, Ballack, Malouda.

TONIGHT THE ACADEMY ARE IN YOUTH CUP ACTION AGAINST PORTSMOUTH AT STAMFORD BRIDGE AND THERE WILL BE LIVE UPDATES ON THE BOARD FROM 7PM.

The game is also being shown LIVE on Chelsea TV.

Chelsea: Cech, Ivanovic, Carvalho, Terry (c), A Cole, Deco, Ballack, Lampard, J Cole (Zhirkov 80), Malouda, Anelka (Sturridge 87)

Goals: Malouda 5, Lampard 31, 89

Birmingham City: Hart, Carr (c), Johnson, Dann, Ridgewell, Larsson, Ferguson, Bowyer, McFadden (Michel 71), Jerome (Fahey 55), Benitez

"It is born out of hypocrisy and fundamental insecurity. There have been two kids on the block for the past 12 years. Suddenly, there is a third and that one is threatening to be more successful than the others and they don’t like it." P Kenyon.
