Michael Essien is expected to be out for 3-4 weeks after tearing his hamstring during last night's poor draw against APOEL. Not that the result affected Chelsea's continued involvement in the competition, qualification and top spot were already secured, the whipping boys of the group 'according the media' should have been whipped.

But APOEL weren't and in fact the 'Boss' Anco said, "It was Chelsea's worst performance since I came here."

It was a poor night. Poor performance, poor Chelsea atmosphere, poor Obi Mikel who was becoming a liability from recent performances (including Money Citeh at the weekend) then became one after his shocking pass which led to APOEL's late, late equaliser, poor Michael Essien being injured so soon after his stunning equaliser and poor officiating in allowing APOEL to take an early lead and then minutes later disallowing Coley's equalising goal.

There was no difference at all between Coley's disallowed goal and APOEL's 1st goal being offiside. One stood the other didn't.

Once Chelsea took the lead there didn't appear to be a problem, but once the second-half kicked off and APOEL change their formation, every Chelsea fan wanted THAT third goal, which didn't come and Chelsea paid the price.

What a price to pay. A sloppy Mikel pass let in APOEL's Mirosavljevic to race on and slide the ball past Turnbull, making his Champions League debut.

The stats will confirm Chelsea's dominance of the game. Turnbull had to pick the ball out of the net twice and had two saves to make, decent ones at that and in addition to the two goals Chelsea did score, Chelsea had another two goals disallowed and Chelsea had over 60% of the possession, but as we know possession doesn't win you football matches.

The only positive to take out of Chelsea's poor night was the performance of Gael Kakuta.

Absolutely stunning.  A major comeback since he missed in the penalty shoot-out at Blackburn last week and Gael had a hand in Chelsea's 2nd goal when he fed Zhirkov in to cross for Dids to score with a low shot.
