It´s Ancelotti! Milan Seek Compensation

Reports are coming in that Chelsea have agreed a deal with Carlo Ancelotti and only need to agree a compensation package with the Italian club following talks with the Milan coach's representatives. The media also say however that Mark Hughes could STILL be in contention in case Milan try to squeeze too much out of Abramovich.

Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani was adamant that Ancelotti wasn’t going anywhere at the weekend and that Chelsea would not be allowed to meet their head coach - although these reports contrasted with previous stories that Abramovich had already met Ancelotti in Geneva – presumably to discuss Shevchenko.

There can be no doubting Ancelotti´s pedigree who has achieved a lot in the game despite (and this surprised me to be honest!) being only 48 (younger than Wenger and nearly 20 years younger than Ferguson).

Hughes (or perhaps the Hughes/Zola combination) would be the preferred choice for a lot of the Stamford Bridge faithful so it looks as if we may only have to wait 24 hours or so for the reports of Ancelotti´s appointment to be confirmed by the club itself.

Carlo Ancelotti, AC Milan coach

The Italian’s Milan side fell against Arsenal with perhaps a team just past it’s sell by date although many cite the football they played against Man Utd in the Champions League during the previous season before eventually beating Liverpool in the final as some of the best seen.

The main advantages with the Ancelotti appointment are his pulling power with regard to both top and up and coming players, the respect he would command for any squad and the winning mentality he could instil.  In fact, to show the standards he sets for himself he is said to feel that the 5th place finish in Serie A last season is a low point of his managerial career.

If the appointment is confirmed after reaching an agreement with Milan then it will be interesting to see what this means for Sheva and also Drogba who may already be booking his ticket to join Mourinho at Inter.

Not my first choice BUT with quite a few top-class and potential top class mangers around that would have been difficult.  The important thing now (?) we have a coach worthy of our club is to get behind him 100%.

"It is born out of hypocrisy and fundamental insecurity. There have been two kids on the block for the past 12 years. Suddenly, there is a third and that one is threatening to be more successful than the others and they don’t like it." P Kenyon.
