Benitez Feelers out to Chelsea!

Shocking rumours are emanating from Spain that Rafa Benitez has put the feelers out to Stamford Bridge via a 3rd party for the Chelsea job. We know that Rafas own dignity is being stretched to the limit at Liverpool due to the shenanigans of Hicks & Gilete but the idea of Benitez at Chelsea is one that I doubt the Stamford Bridge nor Anfield faithful could envisage!
A Spanish radio programme alleged that Benitez has let it be known that if he was offered the job he would be prepared to make the shock move and the story is appearing in various Spanish papers.
If true, it could only be that Benitez has had enough of constant promises re transfer funds and would relish the opportunity to be able to mould a team that could make an earnest challenge for the Premier League as well as challenging in Europe. Now arguably, Liverpool are probably “only” 3 class players away from that but the extra funding would only probably be found once the new stadium is built in Stanley Park – and that is still a few years away.
A further twist is that Benitez would only take up the helm of Chelsea providing no approaches were made to sign Liverpool’s key players such as Torres and Gerrard.
Whilst the story seems too fantastic to contemplate, I cannot imagine the reaction of Chelsea fans (not to mention most Liverpool fans frothing at the mouth!) if the move actually happened!
Still, we used to hate Mark Hughes when he was at Man Utd didn’t we?!
Nah! Couldn’t happen! Could it?!!!
