Gillingham chairman Paul Scally has said that no transfer funs will be available in Janaury unless players are sold. Jepson recently admitted that he wants new players in January but Scally has said that no funds are available unless players are sold, which could mean an exit for Matty Jarvis. It was after the two, nil defeat to Port Vale that Gillingham boss Ronnie Jepson admitted to fans and press that he was keen to bring in new players for the push for promotion back to the championship.

Paul Scally however has said that no funds are available for the transfer window in January, unless players are sold by Jepson. Speaking the the Kent on Sunday Paul Scally said, "We work out a budget at the start of the season and that remains the same. The only way money can be freed up is if players are sold." This could mean an end to Matt Jarvis' career at Priestfield. Despite the star saying he is happy at Priestfield for now, if no funds are available Jepson may have to make the hard choice on whether to gamble and keep Jarvis for the rest of the season and hope he signs a new contract extension, or cash in on the star player and bring in quality players whilst freeing up some money for wages.

Scally continued, "At this stage I don't know what Ronnie's plans are. The reality is that we've had no phone calls for players yet and don't expect any until January. You don't talk to players and sign a deal three weeks later. You talk to them and then look to clinch a deal in days."

Jarvis has been linked with a host of big names moves, with rumours claiming that rivals Charlton are lining up a £900,000 bid for the player in January to help their bid of avoiding relegation from the Premiership. Watford have also been linked with a big money move for Jarvis to help their fight against relegation. Money like that would give Jepson the opportunity to bring in several quality players to help Gillingham's bid for promotion.

Scally concluded," It is a case of waiting to see what happens. I don't know what the interest level in our players is going to be like. Only at that point will Ronnie and I sit down to work out who he wants or who wants to let go."

Before the defeat at Yeovil Ronnie Jepson said," I've got a list of players and will have a chat with the chairman and see if we can bring them in January. I'm looking to strengthen all threough the side.

"If we can get some point on board, come January we can be in a healthy position so I can knock on the chairmans dorr for that push. If we're not, I'll still knock on his door to see if he can help us out. We will see where we are up to then."

Jepson will most probably be keen to add to his defence most of all. The Gills have been one of the highest conceeders in the division and have kept just two clean sheets all season. Jepson will also be looking to add another goalkeeper to the books with the Gills having to bring in an emergency loan following an injury to the Gills' only goalkeeper Kelvin Jack. Dean Brill was brought in on loan and impressed Jepson on his debut.

Iffy Onoura also said on BBC Radio Kent whilst commentating on the defeat to Yeovil that Jepson should bring in a striker. He said Jepson needs to find someone to partner Gary Mulligan upfront as Dean McDonald and Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu have failed to live up to expectations. Jepson was close to bringing in a new frontman on loan deadline day. Jepson was on the verge of completing a deal for Swansea striker Leon Knight, only for him to join Barnsley but Jepson said he shall try again in January.
