Speaking to the Saturday Observer, Gillingham chairman Paul Scally claimed that Matt Jarvis rejected Scally's lucrative offer. The offer was said to be the biggest in the clubs history to a player of that age and stature by Scally. Paul Scally confirmed that Matt Jarvis' agent, Mark Curtis, turned down the offer from Scally what was said to be a very lucrative deal for a player of his age. Speaking the the Saturday Observer Scally said, 'We put the biggest offer ever made in the history of this club to Matt Jarvis for a player of his age and standing but his agent has already turned it down.

'But we have not given up hope of keeping him. The problem is that his agent is Mark Curtis who knows he will make no money by his client staying at Gillingham.

'But the final decision will be the player's and we hope he will stay.'

Offers of £250,000 have been made for Jarvis from championship outfits Stoke and Plymouth but Scally added, 'The two offers we have so far received are well below our valuation of him.'
