What is it with Gormless? His team is struggling to break down a resolute and stubborn T&T defence and the stupid idiot stays sitting in his seat all game except for half-time when he retreated to the dressing room the TWO goals (YES England scored twice) and when the final whistle went.

Throughout the ninety minutes, Gormless was rooted. Rooted to his seat. For God's sake man, this is England, this is the World Cup - show some PASSION for once in your own self-absorbed £5m per year England contract life. Think yourself extremely lucky, if the FA could have afforded it, you would have been sacked a long time ago for all of your indiscretions!

For the first time in World Cup matches under Gormless, England finally scored goals in the second-half and did they need to today! If you thought the performance against Paraquay was bad, I am afraid to say that today's performance was worse against even more inferior opposition.

Here we are. A team of Superstars - Premiership, La Liga against a whole heap of lower League players (no disrespect) and did Trinidad & Tobago nearly put the Three Lions to shame. At one point right in first-half injury time, and we have to shake JT by the hand and buy him a drink or three JT cleared off line and then got a whack clearing England's line seconds later, things could have been much much worse. For those two clearances alone JT should get Man of the Match!

Frank Lampard probably had his worse game for England. Crouch, despite scoring England's first IS NOT International class, a man of his height and gangliness should not be trying to perform the subtle tricks and flicks. How he miss a sitter in the first-half is still beyond comprehension.

Jamie Carragher should be re-nicknamed 'Mr I Can't Pass A Ball and for all Michael Owen's efforts, he is clearly still not match fit.

On the positive side. Rooney got thirty minutes and no doubt SAF's nose was twitching. Aaron Lennon caused major problems on the right-wing and Downing had a real go on the left.

Joe Cole before he was substituted, tried all of his tricks and Gerrard came up with another cracker into injury time to give England a 2-0 victory. Deserved? Probably and only probably. Only for the last thirty minutes mind you!!

So England have qualified for the second stage and look set to face either Germany or Ecuador . At the moment it is looking like Germany will be England's opponents as the Germans have an inferior goal difference on Ecuador, because Ecuador beat Costa Rica 3-0 in the first game of the day.

But there is still one game to go and everything could still change.

Sweden beat Paraguay 1-0 with a late goal from Freddie Ljundberg. This defeat sees the South Americans catching the next bus home.

In today's action, its Arjen Robben v Didier Drogba as Holland take on the Ivory Coast. Hernan Crespo lines up for Argentina against Serbia & Montenegro and the match of the day is Mexico v Angola.
