Setting the scene: Turn up the Mission Impossible music.... de, de, dededede,de,de, dededededede, dededededededede, dededededededede, dede... you want to hear the rest.. then find a search engine!!!
Anyway to continue.
'Premier League to Steve Bennett, Premier League to Steve Bennett.. Last time. 'Premier League to Steve Bennett.'
'Oh Hello, Steve Bennett Here.'
'Premier League to Steve Bennett. Should you decide to accept this mission, YOU WILL at all costs deny the Champions and reigning champions to boot Chelsea FC, the chance to break their own points record at Blackburn Rovers on Tuesday night - even if YOU have to deny them three penalties in the second half, with fouls on Wright-Phillips, Super Frank and the shirt pull on 'Hello, Hello Hernan Crespo.'
Whatever you do Chelsea MUST not win tonight.'
'This tape will self-destruct in thirty seconds.'
And so it was taped. Steve Bennett from Kent, nearer in locality to the boys in Blue from Stamford Bridge, accepted his mission and did all he could to award the boys from Ewood Park the winning goal, the match and an UEFA cup place next season ahead of nearest rivals Bolton and the Barcodes from Newcastle United (who incidently are Chelsea's opponents on Sunday).
I was laughing last night not only at the decisions that went against Chelsea but with SOOOOOO many points to spare and with Man Ure on drawing against Middlesbrough on Monday, Chelsea could still play well with a so much changed team and still be the best team on the park, and knowing that our 'Special One' would still be available for top class comments like he came out with last night at the press conference.
For example, and it may turn out to be a long example LOL LOL - Champions, Champions - Back to Back Titles 2005, 2006.
Jose said, "I am laughing now because I am champion, but if today I was not champion, I think it would be the end of my career in England because I would be suspended forever!"
"The strongest claim was the Crespo one - absolutely ridiculous! The referee had people between him and Crespo but the linesman was in front.
"I have not enough fingers to count the penalties we haven’t had this season - but I still believe the refereeing in England is not bad. They are honest people. I just think they look at Chelsea with different eyes.
"I spoke to the referee after the game but laughing; in a good way. I was saying to the players before the game that if today you get a red card, you will be suspended for next season. So after what I was saying to the players, it is stupid if I do something now that creates me a problem for the future. I prefer to laugh and forget.
"I was laughing because I am champion but I can imagine what people in Newcastle are saying."
Funny that Jose, you got to go to Newcastle on Sunday. Will they parade us boys out again and have Celestine walk you out and give us a penalty.... mmmmmm not too sure there boss LOL!!!
One wag at the post match conference asked JM about one of the medals that was on offer on Ebay over the weekend for £10m, JM said "I don’t think the bid is true for a start and if it is true, I sell the medal from last season for sure!"
Too right Jose, but the bid isn't true!!
As for the other action last night, Rovers hit the woodwork, so did Chelsea - Friedel made more saves than Cudicini and Duff ran riot for the second-half, but it was Steven Reid who scored the famous and only goal of the night for Rovers which assured ex-Chelsea hero and idol Mark Hughes more European action next season.
One point of interest here. I had the live TV pictures but decided to listen to Chelsea's new radio station for London, commentary for the game which used to be Big Blue Radio on Smooth FM 102.2 and the amount of support for Shaun Wright-Phillips coming over the airwaves was absolutely magnificient. Seemed to me that there is more support for this little guy than everybody thought.
With the unfortunate news about Rooney today, Shaunie has got a real good chance to replace Joe Cole in his position, with Coley replacing Rooney in his roaming position - just a thought!!
COME ON THE CHELS (as JT Says)!!!
