For me it wasn't a convincing Chelsea performance. Loose passes, poor crosses, disjointed in midfield, poor pitch and all against a Sunderland team fighting for their Premiership lives. Bottom of the table with six points. One thing is certain. It is now mathematically impossible for Sunderland to win the title LOL!

The major talking point of the match was the sending off of Chelsea's Arjen Robben after scoring what turned out to be the winning goal. Robben cut inside and hit a left-foot strike that looked to be covered by Man of the Match Kelvin Davis (Sunderland's 'keeper). The ball took a deflection and rose high into the Sunderland net. Robben then went off the celebrate with the travelling Chelsea fans - he jumped a hoarding - took the cheers of the fans and turned back to face the referee Chris Foy who showed Robben a second Yellow card and eventually Red. In the first-half Robben was booked for a non-descript first tackle.

Sunderland had taken a shock lead in the 12th minute when Lawrence crashed in a shot after a backpeddling John Terry weakly headed away an Arca cross. I had to smirk to myself seeing Cech's diving reactions in his attempt to save the ball. He flopped down like he was getting into bed.

Chelsea equalised when Gallas crossed from Chelsea's right. The ball sailed all away across Sunderland's area, where Joe Cole managed to head the ball back across the area where 'Hello Hello Hernan Crespo' stooped low to head in. TV replays conclusively proved that the ball did not cross the line before Cole headed it back.

The score should have been the score that all the experts were predicting. It may well have been especially in the second-half but Davis pulled off a series of fine saves from Crespo twice, Robben, Lampard and deservedly won the Man of the Match prize.
