It was surreal to sit in the MHL stand and view The Shed End decked in Blue and White but it wasn't Chelsea Blue and White it was Huddersfield's Blue and White, all 6,000 of them and credit where credit is due did they make a noise. They are a credit to their club and a credit to League One.

Once Huddersfield scorned the first chance of the game within a minute, when Carlo (the second best 'keeper in the Premiership) saved a low drive from Taylor-Fletcher, the tide turned Chelsea Blue as they ram raided poor Phillip Senior in the Huddersfield goal time after time after time. Had Chelsea gone in at the break three or four goals clear, not even the most die-hard Terrier fan have much to complain about.

As it was Chelsea had to settle for a single goal lead when on twelve minutes Carlton Cole headed in and over Senior from his own rebound after Duff had completed good work down the left.

Full debutant Lassana Diarra, groomed as the 'next Makelele' had the first Chelsea shot on goal and then once the goal went in, it was just a question of how many Chelsea would get. Alas it wasn't to be. Eider, Shaunie both left their shooting boots at home wasting five good chances between them, in fact Shaunie could have had a first-half hat-trick, but his excuse could be, lack of first team opportunities. However having said that Shaunie played 77 minutes and his overall performance must give him a kick-start to regaining his 'lost' confidence.

Cole had a header well saved by Senior, Huth hit the bar that second goal and perhaps a third goal proved elusive.

The second-half proved to be a different encounter completely. Attacking their own fans Huddersfield were a different team. Jackson made a tactical change at half-time replacing Ahmed with Tom Clarke and this helped to stem the Chelsea tide.

As well as stemming the Chelsea tide in gave Huddersfield the confidence to get forward more and in doing so, won their first corner and their first free-kick from 30 yards out. Roared on by the masses behind Carlo's goal, McIntosh shot had Carlo scrambling over to his left as the ball screamed past the post.

On 70 minutes Robben came on for Duff to help secure that second goal but within minutes, battling Town scored. From a Clarke crossfield pass and knocked on by Collins, Taylor-Fletcher raced on into the area and hit a shot beneath Carlo who managed to get something on it, but couldn't prevent the ball entering the net.

The goal stunned Chelsea and stunned the Chelsea fans. It was hard to 'get' the atmosphere back - cos the atmosphere was rocking it has to be said. JM reshuffled soon after the equaliser and on came Ferreira and Del Horno for Wright-Phillips and Bridge respectively and with eighty-two minutes on the clock, the Town's dream of a replay was shattered as Eider stroked in the Chelsea winner from a low Robben cross. Once that goal went in, the atmosphere was fully restored.

I started this article by praising Town and their fans an I will end it the same way.
