The obvious place to start would be at Anfield, but ehem, ehem I think we will leave that one to last (I WONDER WHY?!? Ed).

There were two cracking games in London on Saturday and depending on whether you are Charlton or Fulham fans you would have gone home disappointed. If you are Spurs or Man Utd fans you would have gone home quite delirious. Especially Tottenham. Two down after 48 minutes to two Darren Bent goals, Tottenham pulled it round with three second half goals for King, Mido and Keane in front of a crowd of 27,111

At Fulham however, all the goals came in a cracking first half. With Fulham taking an early lead through John. Utd replied with two quick goals from Van Nistlerooy and Rooney, before Jensen made it 2-2. Right on half-time VN got Utd's winner. Crowd was 21,862.

London's other Saturday playing Premiership club was West Ham who drew 1-1 at Sunderland in the later kick-off. Sunderland took the lead through Miller right on half-time, before Benayoun equalised eighteen minutes from time. Crowd was 31,212

The other Saturday games saw Blackburn beat WBA at Ewood Park with a quick-fire double from ex-Ipswich hit-man and substitute Kuqi (crowd 20,721) and at Portsmouth's Fratton Park a 0-0 draw with Newcastle Utd was played out in front of a crowd of 20,220.

On Sunday, Arsenal beat Birmingham 1-0 with a goal that Arsene Wenger described the type of goal that would beat Birmingham's Maik Taylor who was simply awesome. After having Captain Cunningham sent off before the half-hour mark, Taylor kept Arsenal at bay including a penalty save until the 81st minute when a Van Persie shot took a wicked deflection of Clemmence and rolled up and over the diving Taylor's body. (Crowd 37,891)

Wigan secured their fourth win in five with a 2-1 win over Bolton at the JJB in front of a crowd of 20,553. Wigan's manager Paul Jewell was quoted as saying as Wigan moved to two points of second place "Forget second - some of my lads are in the showers talking about winning the dammed thing!!"

Man City won 2-0 over Everton after three successive defeats with Danny Mills scoring his first goal in three years. Ex-Villa man Vassell secured the victory in the 90th minute sending most of the 42,681 crowd happy.

Villa themselves suffered another defeat, this time at home to Middlesbrough 3-2. Young Luke Moore, who won the £10,000 Charity cheque at Chelsea last week equalised Yakubu's opener before Boateng and a second from Yakubu made it 3-1. Davis scored Villa's second right on full-time but it certainly wasn't enough to quell the boos and jeers of the 29,719 Villa faithful - less the few hundred of Boro fans who made the trip.

The last game of the weekend was at Anfield where Liverpool took on Chelsea for the second time in a matter of days. This time there was no dull 0-0 draw as the Champions made it eight wins from eight with a stunning and convincing 4-1 win. The goals from Lampard, pen (then got booked for his sssshhhiinng), to which we are still waiting for any news on the actions of some Liverpool fans who thought it would be fun to lob missiles at the celebrating Lampard and other Chelsea players.

Gerard did equalise to give Liverpool hope, but due to an inspired Didier Drogba performance who had a hand in all four goals, Chelsea grabbed the half-time lead through Damien Duff after some neat and fancy footwork from Drogba, and then Chelsea scored two more in the second-half from Cole and substitute Geremi. (Crowd 44,235)

And now we got a break to watch our respective home national teams struggle and in some cases, fail to qualify for the World Cup next year.
