Chelsea Ladies played their first match of the season in the Premier League against Arsenal yesterday at Hampton and Richmond FC and lost 2-0 to the reigning champions.

The Arsenal Ladies goalscorers were Ciara Grant from a first half penalty and Jayne Ludlow doubled the advantage just before half-time.

Chelsea Ladies had won promotion to the top league last season by winning the Southern Premier League and Chelsea Ladies were also Surrey County Cup Finalists where they were beaten by AFC Wimbledon 2-1.

Chelsea Ladies next league game is away to Sunderland Ladies, next Sunday, kick off 2pm.
