Nobody told AC that this was a pre-season friendly. AC still smarting from their defeat in Boston snarled into Chelsea from the beginning with crunching tackles - Gattutso - being the main culprit, obviously personally smarting from his own sending off in the same game. It has to be said that Milan were the better team in the first half, creating the clearer chances, but Chelsea playing their style of football, tried to release Duff on the left and Cole on the right, but the final ball was just a bit short.

The first half team was: Cudicini, Ferreira, Gallas, Terry, Del Horno, Makelele, Cole, Lampard, Duff, Gudjohsen and Crespo.

In the second half, JM introduced, Cech, Carvalho, Wright-Phillips and Drogba for Cudicini, Ferriera, Cole and Crespo with Gallas moving to left back to allow Carvalho into centre half.

Chelsea's style of play changed. SWP was more direct, Drogba was the man to hold up the ball and it was Chelsea that took the lead in the 64th minute. Drogba picked up the ball on Milan's left rode two tackles and powered his way into the area before sliding the ball under the advancing 'keepr. Drogba does look sharp and he does look like he means business. Lets hope he continues.

Worryingly for Chelsea both Gallas and Makelele were injured with a few minutes of each other and were replaced by Tiago and Johnson.

Once the goal went in, AC turned up the heat and in the 70th minute, Vieiri had a goal disallowed for offside, Chelsea didn't heed the warning and in the 80th minute, Rui Costa chipped in from just inside the left hand corner of the area to make the score 1-1.

The last ten minutes was as frantic as both teams went searching for the winner. Drogba turned and Lampard fired just over, Lamps also screwed another shot just wide of the post. Vieiri looked dangerous, but in the end a draw was a fair result.

JM wasn't impressed with the performance against DC United, despite the victory. I am sure he will be better pleased tonight. After the match John Terry was presented with the World Series Cup and go undefeated during pre-season. Four wins and one draw. Now the players can look forward to flying home tonight, rest up and start preparations for the Community Shield against Arsenal next Sunday, the official curtain-raiser to the Premiership season.
