SWP Set to Sign for Chelsea

Man City and Chelsea have today agreed a fee in the region of £21 million to secure the transfer of Shaun Wright-Phillips.

 In an amazing turnaround from Friday when Man City's manager Stuart Pearce said the Wright-Phillips did not want to move, the transfer is expected to be completed in time for Wright-Phillips to join up with the Chelsea party before they set off for their three match tour of the US next week.

City initially wanted £23 million for the England international and Chelsea bid £20 million and it seems a compromise has been reached and Wright-Phillips is on his way to Stamford Bridge for £21 million.

Whilst this frantic transfer negotiation has been taking place, Chelsea are in Portugal preparing for tonight's friendly against Benfica. Chelsea have taken a big squad which includes Claude Makelele and Hernan Crespo. Expect both to take part in this evening's game.

Both Sky Sports and Chelsea TV are showing the game live which kicks off at 8pm.
