I find it all too convenient that now The Sun has joined its sister paper The News of the World, by stating that they each have sworn affadivits from Joe Public saying that they saw Cole, Kenyon and the rest at the Hotel on the given day.
I find it all too convenient that both of these individuals happen to be Arsenal fans and they claim that they can spot Ashley Cole a mile away. I also find it all too convenient that the News of the World have another sworn affadivit from a football fan who happened to be walking past the hotel just as the alleged parties were leaving. For me it is all too convenient. The alleged meeting took place over seven days ago, and a week tomorrow the story was published. Why has it been so long and nothing has been done? Why has Chelsea not been reported to the FA by Arsenal? Why does David Dein and the rest of his Arsenal board members need so much time to go over the evidence. I am convinced that the 'so-called' evidence was in the hands of the Arsenal board, even before the story went to press. Why hasn't Arsenal or Arsene Wenger faced Cole and asked Cole the question? Surely it is a simple enough question? Did you meet Chelsea? Simple. Cole could then give his answer either yes or no. If yes, Arsenal can lodge their complaint and if no, we can all get on with our lives and let both Arsenal and Chelsea deal with the media as they see fit and concentrate on what Arsenal and Chelsea do, play football. But oh no. The story has dragged on and on. Wenger doesn't want to ask Cole the question. Arsenal seemed not to want to report Chelsea to the FA for an illegal approach. Why is that you ask? Is it because Arsenal are 'gulity' of making illegal approaches of their own? Who knows. I certainly don't. The parties that would be privy to this sort of information would be the club, and the agents and of the course the players. Wenger has allegedly stated that he doesn't want to see Chelsea get points deducted, because if Arsenal do win the league, Wenger says that he wants to win the league fairly and squarely and not by artificial means. Don't try and tell us Wenger, that if Chelsea was punished by means of points being deducted, you wouldn't be jumping and down around London Colney. If the meeting took place - why was it arranged at such a place where everybody would be in the full public glare? Why wasn't the meeting arranged somewhere more private? Why did Ashley Cole agree to meet in such a public place? The answers to these questions may never be answered but has Jose Mourinho now stoked the coals further by saying he thinks Ashley Cole is a very good player and that Chelsea will be targeting/buying a high profile left back (personally I think Wayne Bridge is a better left back than Cole. He is certainly more even tempered). Chelsea's policy has always been never to discuss transfers in the public domain. This policy was introduced as soon as Ken Bates took over back in 1982. It seems to me that Chelsea have a mole and as soon as that mole is identified the better. We all know that secrets can never be kept in footballing circles. All that press last year when SGE was being courted as a Chelsea manager and then further on down the line the ultimate appointment of JM. If the case is proven against Chelsea and the FA deem to punish Chelsea by deducting points which cost Chelsea the Premiership title, then there is only one course of action. Chelsea fans should rise up and DEMAND the resignation of Kenyon and all parties involved and if that includes our beloved JM then so be it. I wasn't alive when Chelsea won the title in 1955. I will be dammed to see the greatest sporting opportunity afforded to my club be spoilt by individuals who claim that they have the Chelsea's interests at heart and who are simply stupid and ignorant to follow rules and responsibilities. Kenyon!! If this meeting did not take place. Then come out and tell us all that it didn't take place.
