Chelsea At Home in 3rd Round Draw

The draw for the 3rd Round of the FA Cup was made earlier this afternoon and Chelsea will play Scunthorpe United. The tie will be played on either Saturday 8th January 2005 or Sunday 9th January 2005.

Scunthorpe United, currently leaders of Coca Cola League Two, disposed of crisis club Wrexham in their 2nd Round clash 2-0 at Glanford Park last Friday night.

The last time Chelsea and Scunthorpe met was in 1988 in the League Cup. Scunthorpe caused a sensation not only by drawing 2-2 at Stamford Bridge but thrashing the Blues 4-1 at Glanford Park.

Somehow times have changed and I think it will be the case of Scunthorpe just 'enjoying' their day out and picking up a few welcome quid along the way. And tonight I bet Wrexham are kicking themselves all round The Racecourse for losing out on a tie against Chelsea. All that money!!
