The footballing day started at lunchtime with a 12.30pm kick-off as the U19s took on ‘The Old Lady’ of Turin, Juventus U19s in the Quarter-Finals of the NextGen Series at Brentford’s Griffin Park. Goals from Lewis Baker and Alex Kiwomya gave the Blue youngsters a comfortable half-time lead, but in the second-half Juve came more into the game and Jamal Blackman was busier than he was in the first.

Juventus pulled one back and in traditional Chelsea style, made it a nervous time as Juve piled on the pressure, but two quick goals in the final minutes from Islam Feruz and a second from Captain for the day, Baker sealed an emphatic 4-1 win for the Blues and now they can look forward to a Easter weekend in Como, Italy where the NextGen semi-finals and final will be played.

Seriously if you haven’t seen these boys play, make sure you do as it is very unlikely you will see them in a first team shirt as current trends suggest.

Then it was off to the Bridge as Chelsea took on West Ham and irony of all ironies, Super Frank scored his 200^th goal for the club, at The Shed End in front of ‘The West Ham’ and almost on the spot where the ‘King of Stamford Bridge’ is interred.

Hands up! Who had first goalscorer then?        

Scintillating football, a plethora of missed chances notably from Demba Ba against his old team (no suggestion of sympathy of course) and a succession of fine saves from the outstanding Jussi in the West Ham goal, kept the score down to 1-0 at half-time.

Inside the first ten minutes of the second-half, the brilliant Hazard not only took out three West Ham players in one move before executing a reverse-flick cross that came to nothing, but scored Chelsea’s 2^nd with a stunning low drive into the bottom corner leaving Jussi diving for fresh air.

John Terry ‘Captain, Leader, Legend, One England Captain,’ continued his Hokey Cokey in out in out nightmare as Fatty named him on the bench, but he did manage to get on late in the game replacing the hobbling David Luiz.
