The Blues last game of 2012 at Goodison Park, in what has been a simply amazing, historical, emotional and upside down year with THREE managers/coaches (call them what you like – idiot, legend and fat…. Ed) in tenure, is probably the worst place to go when you are trying to keep on the coat-tails of the League leaders and current Champions.
With Chelsea’s recent league record at Goodison Park – three successive defeats – it will take a monumental effort to get anything from the game and with ‘The Portly One’ very likely to be the most loneliest man inside Goodison after a ‘take-me-out’ wipeout, because of the remarks he made towards Everton in 2007 (he sure knows how to upset the masses. Maybe Blue IS NOT his colour!), Chelsea will do very well coming away with a point, let alone three.
Chelsea’s recent battles and defeats against Everton have been when The Toffees have been stuck in mid-table or below, but now Everton are riding high with only six league defeats all calendar year, three points will shoot them above Chelsea into fourth place.
Chelsea are unbeaten since returning from Japan, prior to that they beat Sunderland on the road.
Chelsea have kept two successive clean sheets and ‘The Portly One,’ if you are a short straw grabber,’ is unbeaten in seven games against Everton, during his time as the ‘bin dippers’ manager.
Chelsea target and Everton hot-shot Fellaini is missing due to suspension (hope) and Hibbert and Mirallas are still injured.
Darren Gibson could return after straining his thigh on Boxing Day.
Ramires is hopefully available again after missing the Norwich win with a knee injury.
I am not going to comment on a red-top rag’s speculative back page from the other day about ‘The Portly One’ getting the ‘job’ full-time.
I don’t like the bloke and I never will.
He can win all the trophies available between now and May and I still won’t change my mind and if there is a serious chance that he will take the ‘job’ on a permanent basis, I will have to seriously consider whether or not to renew my season-ticket for next season and for future seasons.
To appoint ‘The Portly One’ on a permanent basis confirms the owner and the board as complete idiots and imprints a total lack of regard towards the hardcore fans who spend thousands every year following the Blues…. OVER LAND and SEA!
