Lionel Messi made an impact on Chelsea at The Bridge last night and not in the way thought you would imagine, just like he did in 2006 when he got Asier Del Horno sent off. This time, Messi was caught in possession by Super Frank, who veered the ball out to Chelsea’s left for the on-rushing Ramires to collect.

Ramires then got himself into the area before sweeping the ball across to the far post for Didier to sweep past Valdes deep into first-half injury.

What a sweet moment for the Big Ivorian.

 Personal justice for the injustices of three years ago and as far as three years ago stands, Chelsea and me personally are one game away from calling the ‘Corrupt Cup,’ again by it’s proper name.

Yes Barca dominated the game. Yes Barca dominated possession. Yes Barca hit the woodwork twice and wasted a host of other chances, but the most important statistic of the night, Chelsea scored the only goal of the game and go to the Nou Camp with a real chance of progressing to the final in Munich on 19^th May 2012.

When Cesc Fabregas was substituted, he looked like he wanted the ground to open up and swallow him whole.

He couldn’t hit a barn door from four yards and Chelsea proved that they could score without launching the ball long to Drogba.

As for Mr Messi.

His little face at the end – he looked like he was about to burst into tears, aww bless him.

As for the return in the Nou Camp.

Apart from the 5-1 hammering in 2000, Chelsea’s first adventure in Europe’s top competition, any of the following scores, 2- 1 (2005), 1-1 (2006), 2-2 (2006), 0-0 (2009) will be enough to see Chelsea through!

Chelsea pulled off a ‘smothering’, ‘parking the bus’ performance last night and will need to do the same and more to pull off a stunning result in the revitalising incredible transformation under the interim tenureship of RDM.

A little bit of luck, good fortune and another strong referee will help the cause greatly.
