AvB has to be commended for sticking to his principles and commended for going against them on Tuesday night in the 3-0 'Corrupt Cup' win versus Valencia, AvB's Plan B? I hope AvB sticks to Plan B for the visit of League leaders Money Citeh. With Aquero, Silva, Balotelli, Citeh's talismen, I really do not think AvB can afford to employ the 'high defensive' line that has been a major issue this season.

If he does, get your tin hats on or if you are watching from home get behind that sofa and cover your eyes and wait for the opposition goal glut.

One saving grace for Chelsea is that David Luiz is suspended tonight, after picking up his 5th booking in ToonLand last weekend for a challenge that really should have seen a red card produced.

I really don't like speaking ill of Luiz. He is a good player and he has lots of talent, but basically he cannot defend.

Luiz is too much of a liability in the centre of defence when the high line is the order of day.

Against Valencia however, he looked calm, assured and happy to be defending deeper as Chelsea produced their best to reach the last 16 knockout stage.

Have Chelsea won the first battle of the day, without a ball being kicked?

Citeh's coach Mancini is reported to have said, "Sturridge would not have been sold if I had been in charge."

He explained, "It was strange because Sturridge was developed in Manchester (in the academy) and someone let him go.

"For sure he was one of the best young players at City. It was not difficult to see he was a good player.

"If Sturridge was here today, he'd be in the first team. I've watched him many times and know him well.

"When we played Bolton last year, I asked him why he had left City. He said he didn't know.

"It would have been better for City to send him on loan to improve than let him leave altogether."

Chelsea fans should be grateful to Mark Hughes (ex Citeh coach) for selling him to us and to Owen Coyle at Bolton for 'bringing' Sturridge on where in his last 27 Premier League starts, Sturridge has scored 21 goals.
