Chelsea 3-0 Valencia: Brilliant Drogba

Brilliant!!!

Didier Drogba hasn't had much of a time this season within Cobham Halls, but a goal against the Barcodes on Saturday and two last night at The Bridge, saw the 34 year old Ivorian simply back to his best. Last night was a night for all the 'reps' to turn and Drogba especially proved to be the 'King of the Ball.'

You have to have nerves of steel to suppport Chelsea these days. I thought my nerves were long gone, but since Chelsea suffered at the hands of Woolwich a few weeks ago, the worrying has returned.

No more so than last night. The prospect of Chelsea being dumped out of the 'Corrupt Cup' was simply unthinkable, but a Didier strike inside fvie minutes began to put those fears to an early night of rest.

Even when Ramires increased the Blues lead after Didier controlled the ball on his chest, turned and put Ramires onto a run, for me it still wasn't enough, simply because a Valencia goal could have turned the game on its head.

But fair's fair to a much maligned defence including David Luiz, they played alot deeper and JT continued his return to his best.

Valencia struck a post soon after Chelsea took the lead and another world-class save from Cechie Boy secured Chelsea's third clean sheet in four games.

Drogba sealed the win, the points and a surprising top spot finish (after Genk and Leverkusen finished 1-1) with a well-taken second goal and seconds later he was substituted, receiving a well-deserved standing ovation from the Blue faithful.
