When asked how his team did against the Champions, Villa's boss Gerard Houllier replied, "They are not just Champions, they are Double Winners." Shot you down Sir! Nice words and remberance from a man who was our nemesis in his Liverpool days.

Any team that travels to Villa Park and comes away with a point has to be pleased with their work, although Chelsea and young Josh McEachran were relieved in the final seconds when Reo-Coker pounced onto the ball, after young Josh was caught in possession, and stabbed his effort wide of the advancing Cech and the post.

Relief all round.

The woodwork was rattled three times. Ivanovic and Anelka for Chelsea with headers and Ashley Young for Villa from a long-distance free-kick.

The boss announced after the game that Kalou, Sturridge and Alex could be available for the Corrupt Cup game in Moscow on Tuesday against Spartak.

He said, "All the players with injuries are important players but the players who played today played a good game, everyone did their best.. I am not complaining about the injury of my players.

"But I think Kalou, Sturridge and Alex will be able to play on Tuesday. We will see tomorrow at training."

Of the game 'Anco' said, "We didn't start so well. We conceded two chances to score on the counter attack, we wanted to start differently.

"Second half was very good, we played very well. We tried to score but weren't able to score.

"We showed in the second-half we deserved to win but Aston Villa played a good game, had some chances to score and for this reason the score was fair.

"We knew it was a difficult game, it is a difficult atmosphere here. Last year we lost, this year we did better. It was a good result for us at this point of the season, we maintained top of the league."

Upon reflection a draw is a very reasonable result - we don´t normally get much up there against them.

Our football was good but probably could have been a bit quicker.

Houlier did well though - his players looked well drilled and formed a pretty solid block in midfield and defence.
