Chelsea have loaned out Ryan Bertrand and Ben Gordon to Nottingham Forest and Kilmarnock respectively until the beginning of Jan 2011. There was talk of Patrick van Aanholt going to Forest, but that rumour appears to be pigs flying high in the sky. Ryan is a perennial loanee over the last couple of years going to Reading and Norwich.

Ben has spent a short time at Tranmere Rovers.

We wish the pair the best of luck and hope they return to Chelsea in January fitter and stronger for their experience.

In my preview for last night's game in Hamburg I hoped for no more mistakes - but my prayers were unanswered.

In our previous two games against European opposition,  mistakes of the nature of a Sunday side on Hackney Marshes were evident and last night we had two more mistakes involving, Zhirkov, Turnbull (for the umpteenth time) and JT for the 2nd time.

Yeah yeah yeah you can argue it is pre-season, but when you look at the games against European opposition (Corrupt Cup starting in September), of the SEVEN goals conceded in the three defeats, FIVE of those goals were gifts - Turkey's.

Turnbull, JT, Zhirkov and to a lesser extent Bruma, have all been responsible for our European demise.

On the positive note, since the World Cup 'flops' returned to Cobham, our performance last night, was the best.

For most of the game we were in control and we should have been leading 2-0, before Hamburg registered their first goal when Anelka was put through, the ball bounced up, Anelka controlled it, the keeper saved the first attempt, from the rebound Anelka slotted the ball home into the empty net.

Tough for Chelsea. The referee disallowed it.

There wasn't a foul, there wasn't a handball. TV replays were conclusive.

As for Hamburg's goals.

For no apparent reason, Zhirkov lobbed the ball back to Turnbull. Turnbull came rushing out with his gloves in a fist protecting his head, too slow, and Petric managed to nip in between Mikel (who looked completely dumbfounded) and Turnbull and lobbed the ball into an empty net.

For Hamburg's 2nd goal, JT mis-controlled a through ball, the ball found the foot of Song who rounded Carvalho to slot the ball home past a diving Turnbull.

There is no doubt the defence is struggling with fitness, but they are also struggling that neither Hilario or Turnbull can command the four men in front.

Cechie Boy has a communication problem to at times, but HE IS THE BEST WE HAVE GOT.

Sir Alex must be rubbing his hands with serious anticipation for Sunday's meeting as it is recorded the team who wins the Community Shield, generally goes on the win the Premiership.
