Chelsea struggled to a 1-0 victory in the balmy climes of Nicosia last night. A struggle it was but a victory nonetheless and Chelsea sit proudly of the top of Group D with maximum points. What is rather worrying, with the rat-eating bin dippers on the horzion, a similar performance on Sunday to that of last night or Wigan last Saturday, could spell alot of trouble for 'Anco's' Blues.

The pitch didn't help our cause. The pitch looked like thousands of tons of sand were dumped in the morning and an army of hundreds of Cypriot women weaving the strands of grass into the surface right up to kick-off.

A recipe of entertaining football - I think not!

However the piece of football that brought Chelsea their winner began when Belletti started the move in his own half with a ball into Ivanovic.

Ivanovic passed to Kalou as Belletti continued his run down Chelsea's right, Belletti received the ball from Kalou, cutting into the area, fed Anelka who sweetly struck his shot into the furthest corner of the net.

Despite the victory and maximum points, 'Anco' wasn't happy. He said, "I am not satisfied. I want Chelsea to play better, we didn't do a good performance.

"We started well, we controlled the game, we scored the goal, but we had the opportunity to do quicker attacks and we didn't.

"The second half was different, we tried to control the game with possession of the ball but we made a lot of mistakes and Apoel played the second-half very well.

"I think they deserved to draw the game, but this is football."

'Anco's' counterpart in the APOEL dug-out was praising Chelsea. He said, "They were very hard and we are satisfied with how we played.

"We managed to control the pace of the game and be more demanding in our game but it was an easy first half for Chelsea.

"They scored and then they controlled the game because we couldn't do anything more dangerous up front. They are good side."

Before catching the plane home, 'Anco' promised, "Against Liverpool we will not play like today, we will play better for sure.

"Now we have time to rest, we have time to perform well and it's important that we have the time to play better."
