The Ure of Manchester dismantled Tottingham at The Lane last week, at The Bridge yesterday afternoon Chelsea summarily executed Tottingham with Ashley Cole, Michael Ballack and Didier Drogba providing the firing squad's ammunition. Jose Bosingwa rifled one in within the first ten minutes, but his powerful effort cannoned off the cross bar.

With Chelsea already 1-0 up, the game could have changed perspective had ref Webb awarded Tottingham a penalty.

From my seat I couldn't see the incident clearly. But as Harry Redknapp said after the game, "If it wasn't a penalty then Webb should have shown Keane a card" and the way Keane was racing around gesturing he wanted a yellow too!

Carlo got the special welcome home that everybody wanted. He was presented with a silver dish to mark his wonderful service to Chelsea by chairman Bruce Buck, prior to kick-off.

I really thought Tottingham would cause us more problems than they actually did especially with the pace of Defoe and Lennon. What Cech had to do he did with ease, but Jenas' rifle caused a flutter in this old heart.

One concern for Chelsea was the way Drogba collapsed clutching his knee after mis-hitting a shot and then having to be carried off, this, after Bassong was stretchered off after landing awkwardly on his neck.

There were EIGHT minutes added due to the Bassong incident but no drama unfolded unlike at Old Trafford earlier in the day.

Boss 'Anco' kept his word as Chelsea deserved the win.

He said, "We are very happy because we won a difficult game. It was an important game because it was a derby and Tottenham was a very good opponent, They played very well first half and because they changed something in midfield, we had a little bit difficulty to maintain control of the defensive conditions.

"The second half was better for us because we did a very good job in defensive positions and we won the ball in midfield. We did very good counter attacks for the second and third goals.

"If you don't do a good job on the pitch against Tottenham, you can't win 3-0."

Starlet Fabio Borini was named on the bench. He came on for the last two minutes. With the time added on, he got nearly ten and that experience would have done him a lot of good and I expect him to continue his squad involvement in Wednesday night's Carling Cup game against QPR.

Very pleased with the performance indeed.

I thought Drogba was at his menacing best and what a pleasure to see Borini come on near the end (I look forward to seeing the line-up for QPR). Sturridge? Rumours that we are holding back on playing him until his tribunal fee has been set....we´ll see.....he must be busting to play.

Spurs DO have a point re the pen - it was. That said, they must also recognise that we should have had one when their defender in the wall put Lampards free-kick over the bar with his arm.

Looking mighty impressive guys.
I gotta say I'm not one to throw in the towel but I think you got this one wrapped up this year. I hope we can at least keep you looking over your shoulder all the way.
