Chelsea v Porto CL Preview: The Corrupt Cup Returns!

September 15 2009

So here we go again with another season of the bloated Blatter and preening Platini corrupt Champions League football competition. After what happened last season at Stamford Bridge against Barcelona with a certain Norwegian buffoon (or very efficient UEFA stooge) officiating the match many Chelsea fans are reluctant to get too enthusiastic this time around.

We’ve had a gutful of corrupt and vindictive football authorities carrying out their agenda on behalf of the old guard of clubs who are anxious to maintain their share of the football financial pie, the sponsors who worry about viewing figures and of course, the hoards of plebeian oppo fans only too happy to see us get it in the neck even though they know full well their own clubs are as or if not more guilty then Chelsea FC (there will be an article on “Kakutagate” to follow by the way).

Welcome to the football of the late 20th and early 21st century!  Rah! Rah! Rah!  Pass the vomit bucket!

UEFA and FIFA are stealing the beautiful game by being far too heavily influenced by commercial and other just as sinister phantoms that lurk ominously whilst disguising themselves under a ridiculous and hypocritical Corinthian spirit facade.

What’s the best way of answering them?  Well there is only one way I suppose – WIN THE BLOODY THING AND STICK TWO FINGERS UP AT THEM!

Anyway… Rant over...

Tonight we tackle our old friends Porto.  We’ve played them plenty of times previously of course and our two clubs have a connection through the one-way traffic of purloining some of their best assets – Mourinho and Carvalho to name two.

It will be interesting to see just who are likely to be our most difficult opponents in the group – and that’s pretty much a toss-up between this evening’s opponents or Atletico Madrid – the Spaniards may just pip it on paper but the Portuguese do have a lot of experience in the competition.  We shall just have to consider this match a tough one.

Fabio Borini, Chelsea

There have been a few noises in the media that a few of our youngsters just may get some playing time tonight.

We have of course been robbed by FIFA of Kakuta getting a chance to show some flashes of magic that we know he is capable of but Hutchinson, Bruma and Borini should all start on the bench.   Borini has a reputation of being a good finisher and who knows; maybe we might just have a Van Nistlerooy, Linekar or Owen on our hands.  Hutchinson has been very strong and reliable and Bruma is extremely solid and mature for a player of his age.  It would be nice to see one or two of them get a chance wouldn’t it?

Drogba and Bosingwa are both banned from tonight’s match due to their outbursts after UEFA´s successful stitch-up on us in last season’s semi-final.

Deco, Joe Cole, Ferreira and probably Zhirkov are all also out due to injury or lack of fitness. Essien and Carvalho were both rested on Saturday and Anelka only featured during the 2nd half against Stoke City so we can assume they will all start.

Further good news is that Carvalho should return to partner Terry again but the burning question is will it be Sturridge or Kalou who partner or play just in front/just behind Anelka?  I’m hoping its Sturridge. Kalou has been back to his frustrating old self again and Sturridge has been patient – more importantly I bet he is champing at the bit to get on the pitch.

A dodgy start ending up with a 3-1 to us tonight.

Maybe, one day, Chelsea will show up to actually play some football...Don't they already have a Rugby league in England? (Sm151)

But how do you play football against your 11 players, plus a corrupt referee and an entire football authority?

Cheers Marvin

Funny we havent got a problem with Barca shame nobody else recognises that fact.

The problem we have is that a 'stooge' of a referee is still being allowed to referee in a high profile CORRUPT competition and he didn't go to specsavers.

bitterness is the only thing that cries out from you cockneys

You think that UEFA would have "allowed" Porto and monaco to be in the CL final of 2004?

Your team is just not good enough to win it, you had your chance vs man utd and john terry blew it

You just cant win it and you know it
