Ac Milan hard-man Gennaro Gattuso last night said that in Ancelotti Chelsea have the manager who can bring us Champions League glory that the club and fans pine for. He also batted his eyelashes at us a bit into the bargain.

Ancelotti is the man

"Both Milan and Chelsea are big teams and that's no different for him (Ancelotti)," said Gattuso.

"It's very important he wins the League or Champions League and I think he will.

"Chelsea have more chance to win the Champions League now because the team in the last five years played three semi-finals and one final.

"Ancelotti can take them the extra step. Winning the Champions League is hard because you need luck.

"But Ancelotti is a Champions League expert. I would say the Champions League is the home for Carlo Ancelotti and that is good for Chelsea."

"It's now big money in England, big contracts," added Gattuso.

"But Ancelotti is signing for Chelsea because he's a gentleman. He's won so much and he wants more.

"In the dressing room for Chelsea it's important the players stay calm and do not feel pressure. But he's very clever in the way he talks to players.''

I’m ideal for the Premier League

Gattuso then went on to hint he would be up for a move to Stamford Bridge.

"I like the Premier League. The Premier League is the best league for me, for my characteristics.

"I don't know what will happen. I have been at AC Milan a long time and it's not easy to go away, but we'll have to see.

"Chelsea are a big, big team but working with Ancelotti is a good feeling. We have worked together for eight years and he is for me a second father. He is a great person, and a great manager."

Would we buy a 31-year-old?

I’m not so sure that we are looking to buy players of Gattuso´s age (31) – although I don’t doubt his quality. 

Of course, we already have players such as Drogba, Lampard and Ballack who are all 31 or over but I understand that the object of this transfer window is to bring the average age of the squad down.

Sure, if he’s available for around £5m I could understand the temptation but then how often would he play and whose space would he take up?  Mikel?  Ballack?

With his tough style of football he wouldn’t have much problem adapting to the PL and don’t forget he already has experience playing at Rangers (his wife is actually Scottish by the way) when Wilkins was there.

I’m not convinced about the idea.  I suppose if we do get 1-2 top quality targets and some decent younguns than at 5m…?

If Bayern Munich want our own Jose Bosingwa good, then he could be used to secure Franck Ribéry with costless amount. After that we can use Calvaho and Deco to secure Maicon who is not happy at inter milan, instead of paying high volume amount for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, especially when have already has in our custody a loyal Didier Drogba who is a treat to any defence in the world. Besides no Italian stiker has ever perform more than any other foreign stiker coming to the premier league. A WORD IS ENOUGH FOR A WISE. Gani from Nigeria.

Good point about Maicon - forgot about him.

I´m sure IF we did secure Ribery (going to be very tough) then they would want Bosingwa - doubt it would be a "costless amount" though Gani - Bayern want around 40m for him.
